Views of Bangkok from the Baiyoke Sky Tower Hotel
The Baiyoke Sky Hotel is not a great hotel to be honest, but it is the tallest hotel, with the highest restaurant and bar and is the third tallest building in Thailand and for this reason alone, is well worth a visit.
We stayed there last night for our wedding anniversary and they had made a little effort for us with towel swans, a chocolate cake and rose petals on the bed and in the bath, bloody things got everywhere and I'm glad I didn't have to clean up after us!
The room was alright, the all-you-can-eat buffet dinner and breakfast dinner were not too bad (the wife however thought the seafood was fresh and delicious) but the views from our room on the 73rd floor, and from the 84th-floor rotating viewing platform were spectacular!
It was nice to see that the hotel was relatively busy after the pandemic and for anyone interested, the prices were very reasonable, even in the hotel coffee shop, a nice cappuccino was just 45baht (for comparison, a small Starbucks cappuccino comes in at around 105baht).
The location is central and it is firmly and unashamedly a tourist hotel. The thing I found strange was that it was only completed in 1997 and looking at it, both the external architecture and furnishings, it was so dated and looked slap bang out of the 1970s.
You don't need to be staying here either to take advantage of the amazing view from the top, you can get tickets just to go up to the observation decks which a lot of people appeared to be doing. Lat night at 8 pm when I took the night photos, it was packed up there and even as a guest had a 15-minute wait for the lifts to take me back down to the floor we were staying on!
This is what the hotel looks like from the Amari Watergate where I stayed last year. Check out my skyline shots and see if you can work out where I was stood to take this photo!
They were really spinning things out with the highest payphone in Thailand and the highest post box but at least there were a number of Insta-opportunities in the viewing gallery. I was a little sad that the bar was all enclosed but at the restaurant on the 81st floor where we had breakfast, you could sit outside. Only good for dinner though, at breakfast this morning, the sun was hot and bright, unlike the day previously when it had poured it down most of the day. There was an incredible thunderstorm last night too which was also an amazing sight from our bed in the sky.
I will also sneak in a general whinge about 'buffets'. I long for the day when I could walk into a restaurant and hand be seated before being handed a menu and then a nice waiter arriving to take our order before the food and drinks were brought to our table. Last night I walked around in circles for hours
The other thing I was disappointed with was the windows in our room which spanned the full width of the room and were floor to ceiling but had some sort of mesh built into them which spoiled the view somewhat. I'm guessing it was a safety thing but even so, was a shame.
I don't want to end on a downer about the hotel so I will say that the place was spotless and everything was immaculately clean and tidy. The staff were also absolutely super friendly and helpful. It was so lovely to see a little life coming back and have felt so sorry for Bangkok's tourist industry which has basically lost two years of business.
Enjoy the pictures and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
They'd made a bit of effort for our anniversary although I still have rose petals stuck to my bum!
The wife is knocking on a bit and needed a quick reminder about where she was!
Where there were many photo opportunities but would have been better if the windows had been cleaner.
Let's go out onto the revolving steel walkway...
Time for some dinner and the wife was happy, she has crabs...
The city streets, 83 floors below...
Not a place singles are going to go 'on the pull'!
The observation deck stays open while 10pm.
All cities look much better at night.
Could you match the daytime shots to the night time shots?
The EXACT Location is added to @pinmapple (alongside the two other pins there!) and all photos were taken by me on Monday and Tuesday.

The revolving roof deck sounds very interesting and gives you a really nice view. Although the hotel is not fancy, either something special it still looks tidy and clean. 🙂
Yes mate, it was very tidy and clean and the staff were superb. Just needed a little makeover I thought.
I love it because it looks neat and at least they helped you with roses. Your wife is beautiful I must say, happy anniversary to you.
Thank you very much @teknon. The hotel was good, but just needed a little freshening up I thought.
You should tell em using the customer care service. I think they'll put it into consideration
Interesting hotel @nathen007 😎
It is so high…
The night scenes of the city are just stunning. It looks so vibrant and alive.
Thanks for sharing. 😊
I love Bangkok at night. It turns from an ugly grey concrete duckling into a stunning work of art!
Yes, just like that. Great way of looking at it 😁
Crikey, that is high and what a view. You are right though, from the outside it looks 70's butt ugly!
Night shots are so much better. Shame it wasn't sunny for the day shots but still. cracking view. Is the mesh thing on the windows for the sun or to stop maddies crashing through it when they get pished?
I think youre right about mesh being there for a combination of reasons! Its the highest Ive stayed but and the best view but I have been up the Petronas Towers in KL which is a third higher again.
Scariest hotel though was one in Chonburi, 62nd floor and it had a balcony! You had to get reception to unlock the door and sign a waiver. I went out on hands and knees!
Hehe, that sounds insane!!! The highest balcony I have been on is a 17th for balcony on a sketchy Glasgow high rise. And I thought that was breath taking!! I need to sort out my sheltered life!
You do this every time man!! 17th floor of an inner-city Glasgow high rise trumps anything in Thailand....I am man enough to admit defeat!
Lolz! I will take the view from high up in an exotic country over all amazing city anytime rather than worrying about getting stabbed in the lift on my way out 🤣🤣
I see your post is very good, and you are very skilled in making articles.
can you help me @nathen007 how to make a good article, but i can't be on the top.
my environment is very simple
i was going to help you after a nice comment but I see that one of your friends has spammed all my comments with pish votes this morning. Big mistake.
who do you mean by spam?
don't accuse without evidence, which friend are you referring to, am I the only phisio user?
don't talk that no no.
I already have good etiquette with you
I asked who is putting Pish votes on all my comments please? Do you know who it is?
Anyway, in answer to your question. Just write about your life. People will be interested. You say simple, I say interesting. I love to hear how other people live, their towns and countries, and what they eat and do every day.
Your life is especially interesting, you're in a chair and no one can understand how difficult that must be. Tell us! Help us to understand.
Your English is good, I will help you if you want and just write as much as you can. Be sincere, choose the right community to post in and you will get good votes.
Everyone has an interesting environment whether simple or not. Just look around you fella!
Also, try and write as much as you can and also read lots and make good comments on other people's posts. It takes time and hard work mate but everyone can do well here.
Happy wedding anniversary @nathen007 hope you guys had a sweet time :)
Wow, your room has a stunning view of the city no matter the time of day. I remember my visit to this bustling city a few years ago. At the time, the streets were incredibly crowded, but now they seem quieter. :)
Thank you so much! It is much quieter but there are finally signs of life beginning to return so hopefully with all of SE Asia open again, it will be business as usual in a year or so!
Stay tough and take care please, Lady :-)
Wow the hotel looks great. Happy anniversary.
