December is a month for partying, dancing, shopping, eating, drinking and especially for giving thanks. To make a review of those good and bad things that have happened to us in these 11 months that are behind us.
December is one of the most beautiful months for me, not only because I have my birthday in this month, but also because the family gets together, the days are propitious to give gifts, to celebrate, to meet. But December also has its sad, nostalgic side when we look at the empty places at the table, when we miss the kisses of someone who is no longer there, when we feel that we are missing a hug, a smile, a look, the word of a loved one.
I would like to say that 2024 was a good year for my family, but it was not. My nephew's untimely death from bone cancer left us very hurt, tired, as if joy had fled our house, as if we had run a marathon and lost them. Maybe that is why nobody felt like putting up the Christmas tree today, nobody wanted to buy presents or put colored lights, nobody is looking forward to dinner, nobody wants to eat delicacies; however, we are determined to meet to remember my nephew, to embrace each other and to remind each other that we are united, with broken wings, but united.
For the country these months have also been very hard, so hard that we are looking forward to January. We are looking forward to what will happen next year because it will depend on it that many Venezuelans return to Venezuela and that those of us who are here do not also leave and stay to take our country forward.
And that is another of the characteristics of December: hope. With the arrival of the last month, we renew our desires, the desire to do and that everything works out well for us. We reset ourselves mentally and forget the mistakes and failures of this year, and we go with full force, with all the momentum, with enthusiasm to eat the life we are looking forward to live.
So let us live, with joy, nostalgia, and many hopes this month, the last of this year, that just as this 2024 has passed quickly, like a sigh, so does life. May God protect us all.
Diciembre bifronte: celebración y duelo, alegría y tristeza. Animemos la esperanza. Un abrazo, @nancybriti1.
