Grape harvest at school// As vindimas na escola
[EN]
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well 🙂 For those who don't know, I work with 3 year old children in a nursery. Today was a really fun day 🙂 It was a wonderful autumn day and so we decided to go grape harvesting 🙂
We are incredibly lucky because we have a huge outdoor space, so we leave our school and go out to the farm. I was explaining to them that grapes came from the vine and that with grapes we could make sweet wine, that grapes are not just for eating 🙂
As they can't reach the vine, neither can I. I asked the man who takes care of the grapes to pick some for us 🙂 They were super happy 🙂
I asked him to pick a few grapes, because as they are still only 3 years old, it was just so they could learn what harvesting is and how important it is to do so.
Then I filled a bucket with water to wash the grapes so they could try the grapes that are different from the ones they usually eat after lunch and we used that water so that when they stepped on the grapes they could wash their feet afterwards.
I gave each one a bunch of grapes and each one could take whatever grapes they wanted and eat them. Almost all the children said they were good, they were sweet ❤️
They had exemplary behavior and loved the activity. I asked if some of them had ever done the grape harvest and some had done it with their grandparents 🙂
I explained that the grape harvest normally takes place whenever autumn begins
Now I show you the part that they all like to do 🙂 Stomping on the grapes
Everyone wanted to be first and then no one wanted to leave. I actually thought that some wouldn't want to because last year I did it with the 4 and 5 class and some didn't want to do it. In this class there was only one who said he didn't want to but after seeing the first one he immediately wanted to do it too 😅
They told me it was super fun and that this day of school was so much fun that we want to do it again tomorrow 😅 They are so funny 😅
The girls are very vain and so they say take a photograph to send to their mother. They already know that I always take photos and then send them to the parents. Parents like my work and I'm very happy 🙂 Parents say they couldn't have a better school than this and that makes me very happy. I love that parents value my work 🙂
I hope you liked it, see you soon friends 🙂

In love with the photos! What a fun experience!
Thank you very much for the comment ☺️
Oh kids are so happy and having fun with this activity. I haven't tried harvesting grapes yet hopefully I can try someday.
I have a question, why they step on the grapes? They will become bruising. They won't eat it anymore?
Here in Portugal we tread the grapes to make sweet wine. Sweet wine is wonderful and we send wine to other countries. This wine only exists during the harvest and it is wonderful 😊 Obviously we didn't give the children a taste, but it's important that they know that it's part of our tradition and that over the years they continue with this tradition 😊
Ah okay that act is what we call threading and you will drink the wine after that stepping into it?
Atleast I had an idea. Thanks
No, there are other steps, but they have to be with their own machines. The wine then starts to boil after a week or so and then when it's boiling it's time to drink 😊
Ah okay I get it. Thanks for the answers. I am just curious about it.
Grapes is seldom here in our place.
