Hello everyone, this morning I was telling the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf to my students. They love this story and at the end I told them to draw whatever they wanted and then they all drew little red riding hood and the big bad wolf

Drawing is essential for child development, in addition to being a very fun activity, it is a form of communication. It is through which the child expresses his feelings, his ideas and his wishes, especially when he still cannot express himself through oral and written language.

When the child draws, he creates bridges between his imaginary world and what is real, expressing his visions of the world. Through the drawing it is possible to perceive, for example, if the child is shy, if he has self-confidence and also what his interests are.

At school, drawing should not be devalued or limited. It needs to be seen as a very important resource, especially in Early Childhood Education, where it should be an ever-present activity, after all, many children draw to demonstrate what they are feeling.

Having the drawing space as an activity is fundamental for the cognitive, emotional and social development of children, in addition to developing the sense of observation, perceiving the variety of colors, shapes and textures.

Drawings help children to develop in many ways, including: - Socio-emotional development
Drawing allows the child to express himself, improving the control of emotions and also revealing a therapeutic function, because by stimulating artistic activities, children tend to move away from feelings of apathy and sadness, distancing themselves from anxiety and even depression

  • Motor and artistic development
While the child draws, she develops different skills. The act of controlling a pencil or crayon in a pincer movement develops motor coordination. This happens from the age of 3, when the child moves from drawing doodles to drawings that make more sense.

How to work with drawing in the classroom
It is important that teachers value children's drawings, making drawing an articulator of their pedagogical practice. It is necessary that the teacher has knowledge of child development and also of the stages of drawing evolution, so that he can understand and evaluate scribbles and scribbles correctly.

I hope you liked it, see you soon friends 😀
