Feast of Saint Martin celebrated with roasted chestnuts at school [EN/PT-BR]
[EN]
Hello everyone, I hope you are well ☺️ Many of you know that I work in a nursery with 3 year olds and I love what I do. Today is Saint Martin Day in schools. On Saint Martin Day, you eat chestnuts
Saint Martin is held on November 11th, but as it happens to be a Saturday at school, we celebrate today. So as we weren't going to have time for much today, I decided yesterday to make a chestnut wreath for them to wear today and take home to wear tomorrow too if they want.
I asked them to paint freely. I asked them what color the chestnuts were and some knew, others didn't, I told them to paint the chestnuts slowly, to paint well but some are so clumsy 😅
Then, while they were painting, I made the crowns with the ruler and then cut them, obviously they wouldn't be able to do that job 😅
Then yesterday we also glued the chestnuts they painted onto the crowns to dry so they could be used today. Today we just had to get to school and staple the crown to fit their heads so they could wear the crowns.
I gave them glue so they could glue the chestnuts to the crown. I let them put the glue with the brush on the chestnuts and let them stick them in the place on the crown they wanted.
They happened to enjoy doing this activity. A very simple activity that they really valued ☺️ The children are amazing ❤️
I feel like they are evolving a lot every day. Since I evaluated them at the beginning of the year, many of them have already improved their fine motor skills a lot, they have managed to grip the pincel very well, which they didn't do at the beginning of the year.
Do you also celebrate Saint Martin's Day in your country?
As they came to glue the chestnuts to the crown, I was telling them the story of Saint Martin and they were very specific in the story, which made me very happy.
Today we took the crowns that were already dry and ate roasted chestnuts 🌰
They really like chestnuts. Hmmm how good 😋
I hope you liked it, see you soon friends ☺️

It's great to make a chestnut wreath with the children, here we don't have that tradition, although I have eaten chestnuts and they are very delicious.
Happy weekend ☺️
