Castro de São Lourenço - Portugal
[EN]
Hello everyone, I hope you are well ☺️ Today I come to tell you about what I did yesterday. I finally visited Galaicofolia in Castro de São Lourenço, an event that was recommended to me a few years ago and this time I didn't want to miss it. This experience exceeded all my expectations. The combination of historical recreations, lively music and delicious delicacies made for a wonderful day. I was fascinated by the scenes that portrayed the lives of the ancient Galatians.
I drove there, and it was located in the middle of the woods. The trip was very peaceful and the landscape along the route was enchanting. When we arrived, what a surprise, the event was surrounded by nature, comfort and a light atmosphere.
Throughout the party there are several red and white ribbons that form a kind of ceiling. These ribbons create a festive atmosphere, giving a special touch to the event. These ribbons also provided a little shade on a very hot day.
There were men and women dressed in galaic, bringing history. Additionally, there are several animals on display. Here in this tent there were eagles and an owl. The combination of costumes and animals was special, and I was able to learn a little about the Galician culture.
When I arrived, I saw two men dressed from the Galician era fighting. A mock fight is clear. The fight is part of a historical recreation, reflecting the strength and dexterity of ancient traditions. At the same time, it serves as a demonstration of cultural traditions offering the public a fascinating insight into Galician heritage and ancient practices.
Various musicians roam the streets livening up the atmosphere with their songs. Each one plays a traditional Galician instrument such as the drum, the bagpipes or the bandurria. It's incredible how well the audience interacts with these songs, it feels like we've known the songs for a long time ☺️
One of the artisans displayed his impressive traditional art by working animal horns. Using ancestral techniques, he sculpted and decorated the horns, changing them into ornamental or utilitarian pieces. This work is incredible, it goes back to ancient practices. Several people gathered around to learn more about this super interesting technique
Then I found a woman who was also very talented, her talent was making traditional rugs. She meticulously weaves colorful threads, weaving them into complex patterns that reflect the rich cultural heritage.
The woman didn't do that, but she also taught the most curious people how to do it. Of course, curious as I am, I wanted to learn right away, but it's not very easy. She also explained that the patterns and colors she used had specific meanings and were passed down from generation to generation.
When I went there there weren't many people, because it was in the afternoon and the party got more crowded at night, the night is undoubtedly much more beautiful but I couldn't go at night so I went in the afternoon and it was really good, I was able to see everything at a glance. detail ☺️
When I passed by the ginjinha stand, the temptation was immediate. The sight of the bottles full of this typical Portuguese drink sparked my interest. Ginjinha, known for its fruity and deeply sweet flavor, seemed like a perfect choice to complete the festive experience.
Of course I immediately went to order one, my boyfriend and I always drink both but this time he didn't want to but I drank it anyway and it tasted great. Advice to everyone who visits this festival or another similar festival in Portugal, try it and you won't regret it
I hope you liked it, see you soon friends 😊

A visão das garrafas cheias desta bebida típica portuguesa despertou-me o interesse.
