Pumpkin flowers are bright yellow or orange blossoms that grow on pumpkin plants (Cucurbita pepo). They have a trumpet-like shape with five distinct lobes and are either male or female:

Male flowers are more common and appear first on the plant. They have a long, slender stem and produce pollen.

Female flowers have a shorter stem and a swollen base (the ovary), which will develop into a pumpkin if pollinated.

Both types of pumpkin flowers are edible and often used in various culinary dishes. They have a mild, slightly sweet flavor and are popular in recipes like stuffed pumpkin flowers, tempura, and salads. They are also rich in vitamins A and C, making them a nutritious addition to meals.
