When you have to build your home right from scratch it is a hell lot of an effort. Me and hubby always wanted a home away from the city between the mountains. I wanted a space where I could grow my own food and to an extent be self-sufficient. Living in a city apartment this can never be possible. Me and hubby some months ago to fulfill our dream bought a piece of land in one of the remote place. This place is a 2 hour drive from the city, so not very far, easily reachable and we convenient to shuffle between the city and the new home.

These jobs are never easy when you have to start from the scratch. It took us around 4 months to just do the planning with the architect on the layout. there were so many back and forth communication. I am very specific of how I want my place to be and look, so they had to meet all my requirements. After all the planning finally from last 3 weeks the actual ground work has begun and I am feeling so good about it. The satisfaction to see your house coming up right from a flat land is of a different level all together. As rightly said, no gain without pain.

My this specific Mumbai trip has been specially for this purpose to come and visit and check out the work and also complete some paper work formalities. These approvals are never ending and so much money goes in getting them. Buying a house is any day much simpler, but then you have to settle down and customize with what you get whereas when you build, everything can be planned just the way you desire.

The markings are done for the initial rock cutting work. The land is rocky and those need to be removed first.

The work has started. This is the swimming pool area.

The machines are doing their job. I always wonder, in the olden times how did people manage to do all of this work without the machines.

The area outside my plot. One one side there are a couple of other homes but on the other side it's completely open.

I could not even stand here for 1 hour. These people do have a very tough job to do.

This was when we had bought. During the rains, the scene is complete different here. It's all around lush green and such a soothing sight it becomes.

This was my last week visit to the site. Now today I again plan to make a visit to check on the progress. The contractor keeps sending me regular updates by photos and videos, but it is always good to make personal visits and check. It's going to be a long day, but I am excited to check the progress as lot of work has been done since my last visit. This is just the beginning, once the structure comes up then the real work starts for me, as the interior planning and the whole set up I plan to do it my way buying the materials and doing all the selections and just taking labour help.
