This weekend we decided to do some day adventure. It's still not the very right time to make day trips but then I wanted to hence we made a plan to do a day picnic to one of the hot water springs locations. The place that we selected is called the Rustaq Hot water springs. Rustaq is the name of a village. If you visit Oman then you may be suggested that this is a must visit place, but to be very honest, No it's not. If you have leisure time then yes, you may include, but there's nothing great about this place, unless you want to soak yourself in the mineral rich water. That will be one of the only reasons to visit the place. Living here we have the liberty to explore these small places over the weekends.

It is a 2-hour drive from the city, we started early. In this place nothing is available so we had to carry all our day provisions. On the way there are some small restaurants and coffee shop so it's not like that you are completely stranded. It's better to carry things, because there are times when these places are closed. We had carried our lunch, water and some snacks. The plan was to go to the Rustaq hot water springs and then near to that at a half an hour drive there is Rustaq Fort, so we planned to visit the fort.

When we reached the fort, we got to know that it's closed for maintenance. It was a disappointment because online it did not mention. There was other tourist also who faced disappointment like us. We were in a big group so anyways we enjoyed.

We managed to get a place under one of the trees. It was not very comfortable, but just ok to keep our things and then go for a soak.

The place from where the hot springs flows, it's a mini pool where you can take a dip. I did not want a full dip. I just wanted to soak my legs.

We had planned to have our lunch after the fort visit. When we reached there it was closed. There was a coffee shop outside the Rustaq fort, we requested the person if we could sit there and have our lunch. He agreed to it, we ordered some fruit juices from him to be fair. We had carried Biryani for lunch, the coffee shop person even warmed it for us, so that was nice to have a hot meal.

The fort is exactly opposite. Work is going on.

From this month onwards I will be planning for a lot of these day outings over the weekend. It's nice to keep exploring the place, there is always something new to discover.
