This particular cathedral is in the city of Lausanne. I feel that visiting these places gives a good understanding of the culture of that place and also the religious practices that people follow. Along with all of that you get to see the fine architecture which you will not find in the modern-day buildings. What is being built today is totally different than what was being built a few 100 years back. The architecture then was much more complex. These days we find lot of glass structures, which I guess are much easy to make and they do not have details in it. Whereas these old structures every nook and corner of it you will find something to admire.

These places teach us about the history and culture of the place. I enjoy visiting Cathedrals during my travels. I get fascinated by them. The ones in Italy were out of the world specially the Duomo and the Vatican ones.
The Lausanne Cathedral is built at a height, from this place the whole of Lausanne city can be seen and it gives a very nice view.
The construction of this Cathedral had got completed in the 13th century and It became a protestant cathedral in 1536. After that many times it has gone under renovation and there is continuous maintenance work that keeps happening. It must be a lot of effort and cost to preserve these buildings, but the good part is that it's doable. Think of it, will the modern-day structures stand with the same glory 1000s years from now, like some of these.

Every part of this place has a story to tell, including the ceilings where there are paintings on it.

I cannot explain much on the figures and the paintings as I do not know their story. But I am sure they all mean something.

There is one more interesting part of this Cathedral. Renato Häusler the night guard, between 10pm and 2am stands at the top of the Cathedral’s bell tower and shouts out each hour to the residents. In the past this was done as a part of watching the city and now it's a tradition that is being maintained. I could not see this as it was just a day visit here.
