Once upon a time my favorite place
This is a restaurant in Mumbai, which at one point of time was my favorite place to dine. The name of this place is "Lings Pavilion". It serves Chinese cuisine, I must say it's the Indian Chinese :-). The owner of this place is a very grumpy man. My hubby has been never fond of him, but then we ignore this part because the food here is amazing. In the past if we would ever go here without a reservation he would turn us down, and that was the main reason why hubby never liked him...hehe. The restaurant is not a fine dining place, it is just one of the local restaurants of the city, so that was the reason why hubby did not like him being so stringent on his ways.
This time when I was in Mumbai, we thought of visiting this place for one evening dinner, this was after 15 years. The last we visited this restaurant was in 2008. I will never forget this day because it was the date 26/11, the day when Taj attack happened. When the attack on the Taj hotel began, we were dining at this place, which was exactly behind the Taj Hotel. At that time, the owner of this restaurant put down the shutters immediately mentioning to us that there is some chaos outside and it was for the safety of the people. We did not realize what was going on. After almost an hour when he felt it was just the moment to get out, he opened the shutters and asked all of us to leave as soon as possible. It was his presence of mind that kept us safe. From that day we had lot of respect for him, be it whatever he was, in that moment he was a hero.
On the way home, we never realized it was going to get that serious and long. As soon as we reached home we switched on the T.V. and could not believe what we were seeing on the news. It was a close call with terrorism. After that, we never felt like visiting this place. Not that we were scared, we just did not feel good going there.
This time, finally we broke that barrier and decided to visit once again. It brought back so many of our old memories. It was priced reasonably in those times and we also used to be on low budgets so it was a good dining place for us and we celebrated quite a few of our occasions also there.
Sharing some pictures of our visit this time.
The entrance of the restaurant.
The restaurant has 2 levels ground and mezzanine. What is unique of this place is even visiting it after 15 years, nothing at all has changed here, not even the color of the lights, the chairs, tables, everything is just the same.
There is a small fish pond also inside
Getting to food. I ordered one of my favorite dishes here, which I have never been able to find anywhere till date. It's the Corn Curd. I think this dish is exclusive with them.
After this we ordered some other foods, one of which is again our favorite. Prawns chilli
Honey glazed noodles is again one of their speciality, which should not be missed.
Quite a joyful moment it was dining at our favorite place. The prices are still very affordable and everything here is worth every single penny you will spend.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

Looking at the beauty of the place I can understand why it is your favourite place🥰🥰
It has been maintained the same way since the last 2.5 decades that I know
The food looks nice
It looks like they’ve got fantastic restaurants in Mumbai
Looks nice
This one is a very simple one, Mumbai has some amazing places to dine out
The restaurant looks quite decent and the surroundings are quite welcoming. It's clear you've always enjoyed the experience of dinning there hence your seeing it as your favourite place. I'm glad to hear you were unharmed during the Taj attack while at this restaurant. That attack was bloody and many lives were lost. To this day, I don't think the Indian nation has fully recovered from the shock. Thanks for sharing amazing pictures of this restaurant. Have a great day.
You are right, that incident has left a deep scare on many families and the wounds are not so easy to heal.
I think, I will go there more often now
Returning back to the place after more than a decade must've been a wonderful experience, bringing back many cherished memories. Glad that nothing has changed from the place, makes it more familiar :)
It was nostalgic in many ways.
These types of places I strongly believe will create memories in the heart of you
Memories of our early part of lives are very strong and we hold on to them for life long
It is impressive that the owner of the restaurant reacted so quickly, I am very sorry you had to go through that situation.
The corn curd is something I have not seen before, do they make it fried or baked?
He did act very responsibly on that day and ensured our safety. Huge respect to him for that.
The corn curd is deep fried.
It is a very beautiful moment because a place is always my favourite. But we can never forget this place because a terrorist attack also took place here. I pray to God that such a day does not happen to anyone.
Moments like these become lifelong memories
