Oman's 54th National Day
Yesterday was Oman's 54 National Day. The day is celebrated on the birthday of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, who reigned from 1970 until he died in 2020. It is a very important day for everyone who lives here in Oman. In these 54 years, Oman has progress tremendously in every area and sector and it is a day of celebrating all the achievements and milestones accomplished.
Getting out on this day is like do it at your own risk, because every road of the city is jammed up with traffic, people are out celebrating this momentous day. I know there is traffic and yet I like to go out, I want to feel the vibe of the day. When hubby came home from work, I told him let's go for a drive and he refused, I was annoyed with him, because I had made plans. Then I thought if he is not coming then I should still go alone. There is a bis stop below my building which goes to one of the gardens. I thought of taking that route because the traffic on this route is comparatively less. But the wait time for the bus got very long, it came after 40 mins, I was in two minds by then whether to go or not, but then I went ahead. I wanted to see the lights, so I thought, I will reach the spot and then take the return bus again and come back.
The whole city is lit up with lights and it does look very shiny and glittery all around. Took some pictures on the go, since I was in the bus some pictures do have reflections.
Almost every building is lit up like this.
Almost every part of the city is decorated with lights.
Airport was on the way and there is some nice light decorations there as well.
People are waving flags from the cars and most of the cars have the flag of Oman on them.
This is another level of craziness and on this day, the police does not stop people, else on a normal day getting out of the car while driving is strictly not allowed and there is a fine if anyone does that.
Look at this, he is sitting on top of the car. One can understand what this day means to people, they want to celebrate it with lot of joy and in excitement.
Finally I reach the garden area, I got down, spent some time and then took the return bus again home.
Glad I made the decision of going out, it was lively and entertaining all across the city and colorful vibes did make me feel good.
