3 years back when I decided to go ahead with having a home away from the city life at that time initially I had thought that I will buy a ready house which would be available to me and then my hunt began. I saw many ready houses during that time but none of them vibed with me. Some were too big and some very small, some had a very small garden area, and for some the house position was not very good as per Vastu. I strongly believe in following Vastu tips for home so for me it's very important to ensure that my home complies with it. For e.g. my home main entrance should be in North, my bedroom I would like it to be in east and such things. In a ready house it's difficult to get all the combinations.

With all of this in mind I could never select any ready houses, since all of them had some or the other thing lacking. I was feeling very disappointed. Then one of my friend suggested that why do I not consider building a home. Honestly, till this time I had never thought about it. Building from scratch was completely out of my focus. I did not have the land also. But I liked the suggestion and thought of giving it a try. Then the hunt began of looking for a suitable land.

By now I was very clear in my mind what I wanted, so I had to search the land also accordingly in such places that were of my interest. Again, it was not at all easy as I thought. In India buying a land is a risky job because people can cheat you very easily. They can sell you land which are under disputes and litigation, they can sell you agricultural land where you have limitations of construction and they can cheat you in many ways. By now my hubby was already fed up of me on this. For me there was no compromise even on one bit. My thought was that if I have to do it from ground zero then let it all be my way.

There were many agents who came in the picture showing me various types of land, some also tried to dupe us by showing illegal lands which could not be used for residential purpose. With a lot of search finally I managed to get one which was exactly the way I desired. But again here there was a challenge, the area was not enough. I was looking for a bigger plot and this one was 30% less then what I was looking for.

It was on me whether I should go ahead with it or not. The location was beautiful, completely cut out from all the chaos, wonderful scenery around. Exactly what I had dreamed of, the only thing missing was a water body around. But by this time I had realized that it was impossible to get that. I had to either select between the Mountain views or the water body. Finally I selected the mountain views, the green pastures were more soothing to my eyes. I went ahead with it, compromising on the size of the plot. The area is decent enough, I was looking for a bigger space to have more of gardening area, anyways I can still do lots in this space as well.

From there on the biggest job of my life began, constructing the home. The work is almost 50% complete now. I will write about it in my following blogs.
