Getting Lost and finding my way
These are some random pictures that I clicked while I was in Geneva. I had a day to myself in the city. Husband was at work so I thought of taking a trip downtown, going towards the lake and spending my time outdoors. The weather was good so there was no point sitting in the room.
I took a bus from the hotel bus stop which first took me straight to the UN building stop, there I spent some time watching all the important sites and from there I wanted to come to the lake side. Mistakenly I got into a wrong bus which took me to a very unknown route and I got lost. The problem was my internet connection was not active so I could not even check the google maps. Checking with a couple of people on the road I finally paved my way to the Lake.
After spending some time in that area, I returned back to the hotel, by then hubby had also returned and then he wanted to step out again, wanting to go to the lake again. I was like oh no, I just returned from there. But then to keep his wish I stepped out with him and we went to other side of the lake which I had not covered in the morning. I walked some extra kms that day finding my lost way and by night time was totally exhausted. Anyways the whole experience remains a good memory for me.
Hubby had warned me to activate my internet connection if I was stepping out alone, but then I thought it was ok, I will figure it out which I did eventually. I just kept saying to myself, I have travelled alone many times without a phone so I will be fine without it. I carried the phone with me for the purpose of taking pictures. I had thought to myself that in the worst-case scenario I would go to the main station where I would get the connection and then from there, I can again find my way. And also, the tourist information desk would also be available at the station. It all ended well with a little bit of extra physical activity.
So here are some random pictures of the day.
I liked this piece of art
These pictures are of the later part of the evening when I stepped out with hubby again.
After a hectic day a glass of beer was refreshing.
Sunset was almost at 9.30 so we had a good bright long day.
It was not the first time that I had got lost, it has happened to me couple of times before also, because majority of the times I travel without an internet connection. I do not feel scared, I just take it as I get to see some more things in my lost way. If I am unable to figure out my way due to any reason like language problem, then all I do is take a cab or a bus and come back to the main station from where I will again find my way well. It takes a little extra time but then I get sorted. When hubby is around it will never happen because he makes sure his connection is on. He shouts at me and I never listen to him.

We depend on phone and internet so much that we always forget that their are other ways also which we can use... and simple of them isbto ask the local persons on streets..
Enjoy your trip.
A decade back we never referred to google maps and used our brains to find our ways but now we get scared if we even take one wrong turn. That's how it plays with our mind
Technology is to make our lives better but we depend on then so much that it become the part of life and without some Technology items we feel helpless.
For example simple mathematics calculations, in past people do it th self just in their mind but now we all opened the calculator or mobile for simple additions or subtract problems.
Same here! im also bad in remembering directions so i often get lost. But, like you, i don't feel scared at all, unless if its late at night, then that's a different story.
When I am travelling alone, I like to explore but then I am very careful and avoid late nights alone
As long as we're not "hiking" in the Sahara with no humans around I think it's fine to go on an adventure and explore a city without an Internet connection or a phone ;) Sometimes you get to meet really interesting individuals just by asking your way around. Thanks for sharing your photos! I haven't been to Geneva yet.
Absolutely, I tell my hubby the same, but he is that kind who gets hyper even with one wrong turn.
I have always enjoyed my lost ways
Definitely a long day when the sun sets at 9:30! I somehow prefer getting lost when I go out for a trip in a new place, more things to discover. The place looks beautifully open and welcoming :)
It is a very charming place.
Late sunsets are good on holidays, you get more time to see places
Yes, there's more time to explore during the day. But I guess the night will be short too?
