Controlling our mind
What is the fastest thing that travels? Of course, the light, and then what's next. It's our thoughts, ever realized our mind is always galloping with thoughts, it never stays empty and these thoughts just keep coming to mind one after another. Some also say that our thoughts travel more quickly than sound or light also. Ya, but this cannot be made a generic statement for everyone, there are many people in the world who very well know how to control their mind and thoughts.
When these thoughts are good and uplifting they are very beneficial for us but when these thoughts are destructive and harmful then it is not good for our life energy. It is also the fact of life that all the time we will not have good thoughts, our environment will effect us and shape our thoughts.
There are times when I am annoyed and I start thinking vaguely then my hubby tells me what is the use of you doing all this meditation and all and then I feel like hitting him also....haha. When someone does meditation it does not mean that the person will never have disturbing thoughts. If that would be the case, we would have almost half the people of the world as saints, because while evil exists, there is lot of good also that exists.
It is in the moment when our mind goes out of control and in those moments we can have any type of thoughts, but the whole point here is to just hold back with those thoughts and not react on them. Let the moment pass and then reflect back on them and see if it still holds any relevance. When I get angry or upset about something, I try to go silent as much as possible in that time, my head is pounding with thoughts but I refrain myself from giving it any sort of form, be it in words or actions. Give it a little time to settle down I realize how that reaction was unnecessary, but at the same time processing it is also important.
Good and bad keeps happening all the time in life and with that our thoughts also fluctuate but learning to bring neutrality in life is very important and regular practice of meditation does help in bringing that neutrality. It does not mean that you will not get angry or have any self defeating thoughts, but we learn to control these thoughts by being mindful and conscious towards them.
This is something from my own life experience that I am sharing. I used to have a very tough time with my mother in law and would always be in a very disturbed state of mind, would have very self destructive thoughts and always in a doom, but after starting a regular meditation practice gradually I could settle down in my thoughts, I would not feel a need to respond every time. I could control my anger and I will not say that I never reacted but those moments of me flaring up to the situations started getting lesser and lesser, with that our relationship also improved over a period of time and also the energy of our home got better.

You used the appropriate keyword: "neutrality". Zero-ing in on duality which we're obsessed with in this 3D reality (namely the good and bad, which actually doesn't exist) is crucial. Meditation absolutely helps, and as you rightfully stated, it doesn't make you a "saint". You get better and better with practice, observing your thoughts and knowing that your thoughts aren't you.
You learn to look at it from a distance and you are able to withdraw yourself from all the drama. Right, it's all a mind game of good and bad.
This is an aspect of thoughts that I'm gradually beginning to understand. Thoughts are just inevitable but with meditation we become more aware of them and have the option to not react or get controlled by them. Meditation creates a shift in standpoint on how we perceive thoughts and emotions.
Very well described. It's not possible to not think and feel the emotions, but how we manage them is entirely on us
Life is bittersweet and that is why what next will happen to us is always unknown so it is always better to live with the flow that life give to us
Above all, we should try to be calm and happy
Staying in a balanced state of mind is always beneficial for us

our mind is the remote for our brain
Very true
Whenever I am stress especially financially I always tried to control myself my mind as I know I am always been irritable when I am financially stress.
Our mind is our power house and it can actually control us so much beyond which we can ever imagine
