A Hotel Vs Home Stay
When I travel anywhere, I normally book my stays on booking.com and Airbnb, though lately I did not have a very pleasant experience with booking.com on hosting my own home stay and I am now not comfortable booking my stays with them going forward. Airbnb and Makemytrip sounds more reliable sources to me and I continue with them.
Since the past few years I have started preferring to book home stays in place of a hotel room. The main reason being that home stays are more comfortable and they offer more space to live. The very first time I had experienced a home stay was around 12 years back in Scotland, where I had booked a scottish cottage on the highlands of Perthshire and since then I have been in love with the homestays and always prefer booking it against a hotel room. Hotel rooms feel confined whereas the home stays actually makes you feel at home. Specially travelling in Europe I have had good experiences of staying in home stays.
But then some times there are disadvantages also, for e.g. in Rome I had booked a home stay, it was very nice and spacious, cleanliness was also good, but there were limited house keeping hours and at times that became a challenge, because when we would come late in the evening there would be absolutely no one around and if we would need any help then we had to wait for the owner to arrive which he would take 1 hour minimum. Whereas in a hotel if we would need anything then there is immediate service. We had to always plan for our meals during home stays, in a hotel there would be a restaurant and it will become convenient for meals.
Pros and cons are there for both but yet I prefer home stays more over a hotel room. For me it's more about a comfortable and spacious room then anything else. Also if the owner is staying near by you get a chance to speak with them and understand many local things of that place.
Now that I run a home stay I have been trying to ensure that my guests get all the comfort they need during their stay and I give them a good experience of a home stay which they can cherish over many years.

yes home stay are better choices overall, one city i strongly recommend to everyone to visit is the magic Cartagena in north Colombia, just unforgettable.
I have not heard about this city. I do not know if ever I will get a chance to visit this part of the world as for me it's the other end of the world
Home stay is an innovatively bright idea as compared to hotels. I'd feel more comfortable booking homes than hotels though I've never done that. It seems to offer more comfort and freedom and peace than a hotel. Though preferences differ, some may prefer the other. Thanks for sharing your experiences and you view on this matter. It felt good reading it. Have a good day.
True, both has it's own pros and cons. In a home stay you may not get all the amenities of a hotel stay
Thank you for sharing the differences between the two ma'am. Homestay is good for family outings and staying longer days in a place too ma'am.😊 Hotels are good for one night stay only.😊
That's right, when you are in a big group then homestay is preferable as you get a bigger space
Yes ma'am.😊😊
