Mahashivratri || festival || celebration

๐Ÿ™Namaskar, happy shivratri to all ๐Ÿ™

As we all know india is a land of festival, where we celebrate festivals 365 days a year. Today we celebrate the festival of shivratri. Which is considered a big festival. It has special recognition in hindu religion. Today i would like to share about this big festival, let's have a look :

When the maha Shivratri is celebrated and why โœ…

Shivratri is celebrated on the first night of the new moon of every month. As as a Hindu calander shivratri of phalgun month is considered to be the biggest which we call maha Shivratri. It is Believed that the marriage of lord Shiva and goddess Parvati took place on this day. That's why on this day we worshipped lord Shiva and Parvati.

How this festival is celebrated โœ…

This festival is celebrated all over the India and everyone's way of celebrating is different. Todai i will tell you how it is celebrated here.

On this day we all get up early in the morning, get ready and perform pooja. We also keep fast on this day. First we do pooja at home.

There is a small shivling at our home . So first we offer water, milk, curd, honey, clove, cardamom, jaggery, carrot and some more things to lord Shiva. Also offer them flowers and bel Patra.

Here is some glimpses of today's pooja ;

First i plugged some flowers from my home garden. This time we have a limited variety of flowers.

Than we decorate the pooja thali and done worship of lord Shiva.

There is a favourite flower of lord Shiva named dhatura. I didn't get it today, but i want to share the image of that flower:

After performing pooja at home, we went to the Shiva temple which is near our home. Today all come to the temple and worship the lord. Belive that whatever you ask from lord shiva , your wish gets fulfilled. Here you can see the rush:

We also got shivji's favourite thandai Prasad contained bhang ๐Ÿ˜œ.

After that we have some fruit, dryfruit and peda( milk sweet) and Shake.

Because on this day we keep fast we don't ear grains, only eat fruits etc.

There is holiday on shivratri so in the evening we went to a famous temple named chokanda Mahadev. About which I'll share in my upcoming blog.

A procession also takes place, where small children become shiva and Parvati, some dance and give lots of happiness and positivity.

We also get that Prasad.

There is always excitement for this day. Feel so light, postive and happy on that day.

So , how we celebrate this big festival. Hope you enjoyed it. How you celebrate and what beliefs you have about this festival?

Thank you so much for your time, support and love ๐Ÿคโœจ
