Healthy and delicious chickpeas ( chole masala ) recipe

Delicious and healthy food always brighten up the mood and the day ๐Ÿ™‚.

Masala Chole( chickpeas ) is a protein packed vegan dish which you can enjoyed with rice or bhature. This is simply delicious and amazing recipe which is always love to eat.

Have you ever try it ? This is famous in Delhi and punjab so much. But all over india everyone loves to have chole bhature in the breakfast. And if you want to enjoy chickpeas in the lunch or dinner you can enjoy it with rice, bread or chapati ,naan. Even bhature is not so healthy but chickpeas is a protein rich dish.

This is a favorable, spicy and yummy recipe made with chickpeas, onion tomato and some spices. It take some time , but all time and work is worth it when we enjoy it.

INGREDIENTS โœ…

  • Chickpeas ( chola ) 1 bowl
  • Clove, cardamom, tealeaves, cinnamon
  • Onion 3
  • Tomato 2
  • Green chilli 3-4
  • Garlic 4-6 cloves
  • Ginger 1/4 inch
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder 2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder 2 tbsp
  • Chola masala powder 1 tbsp
  • Aamchur powder ( dried mango powder) 2 tsp
  • Coriander for garnish

PROCESS โœ…

Step 1 :

First wash the chickpeas and soak them for 8-10 hours.

To give it nice color we add a small twist while soaking , take a small piece of cloth add 2 tbsp tea leaves, 2 clove, 2 cardamom ,1 large cardamom, one small piece of cinnamon.

Tie all this in cloth and make a small pot. Now put it in the chole water. You also can one pinch baking soda . After 8-10 hours, chickpea looks like that.

STEP 2 :

Now take a pressure cooker , add soaked chickpeas, add same water with potali (pot), add salt and water. Also add one potato in it. Boil it till 2-3 whistle. It's all depend on the quality of chickpeas and the soaking time.

After boiling it looks that.

STEP 3 :

On the other side keep the gravy ready, for that collect the ingredients and chopped all finely.

I chopped onion and garlic together and tomato, green chilli and ginger together.

STEP 4 :

Now take a deep pan or kadai, heat the oil, add cumin seeds, hing and bay leaf. When seeds start to crackle add finely chopped onion n garlic.

Saute it on the low flame for 7-8 minutes, than add tomato, chilli and ginger. Again cook it for 2-3 minutes and start to add spices, add all one by one and cook for 3-4 minutes on the low flame.

Add water, remember Use the water that was added at the time of boiling. Again cook it for 2-3 minutes. Add boiled chickpeas and cook for 2 minutes.

Mix well and garnish it with coriander leaves.

Your chole is ready to enjoy. Enjoy it with raw onion, lemon and fried chilli. This time i enjoyed it with bhature, which recipe I'll share in my upcoming blog.

This is a love for many. Chole bhature is a dish which satisfied you deeply and a good option as a brunch.

Hope you enjoy this yummy and healthy recipe , if you wanna make it more healthy use less spices and oil. If you have any query let me know in the comment section below.
