Gravy masala apple gourd ( bharwa Tinda) recipe

This is always an awesome feeling when you cook vegetable which you grow 🪴 😋.

Hello foodies!

I am here with an amazing, delicious and nutritious recipe which i want to try for a long time. And for that i used fresh grown tinde (apple gourd) from our farm ... isn't it exciting 😀

So, A day before making the recipe, we went to the farm and picked small sized apple gourd from there.

And i made this delicious bharwa tinde (masala apple gourd vegetable).

Today you will enjoy the bharwa tinda recipe for which we need tinde (apple gourd) which are not fully riped and also in small or medium size.

In our market Such tindes are not available...So I never got to try this recipe. But I had eaten this recipe a long time ago at my cousin's house and I liked it very much. And since then I wanted to try this...This is almost 5-6 years old.

So this time when there were tindas in our field, I specifically went to pick small sized tindas. And I was really very excited and happy after seeing these tindas...
I call to my cousin and asked the recipe and cook it at my kitchen 😄😄.

My whole family like this so much and that day becone so special to me :-).

To make these bharwa tinde or masala tinde we need only tinda, onion , tomato and some herbs.

It took little more time but all is worth after tatse it . Tinda is good for health and usually Some members and children do not want to eat tindes... but by this method tinda become so tasty, so we can give it a one try 😄.

Let's enjoy the recipe 😋

INGREDIENTS ✅

  • Apple gourd (tinda) 10-15 small size
  • Onion 2
  • Tomato 1
  • Garlic cloves 3-5
  • Green chilli 2
  • Mustard Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tbsp + 2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder 2-3 tbsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Hing one pinch
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • lemon some drops
  • Coriander leaves for garnish (optinal)

PROCESS ✅

STEP 1

First pick small and not fully riped tinda and wash them well.

Now make cut like this on the upper side of the tinda in the + shape. You don't need to peel off the skin, if the skin is pale than remove it softly.

Now take all spices like salt, turmeric powder, rec chilli powder, coriander powder , cumin powder and garam masala, mix all .

Fill the masala inside the tinda. You have to hold the tinde from below and press it a little, Then you will get space to fill the masala.

Get ready all tinda like this.

STEP 2 :

Now in a fry pan or kadai heat the oil. Here we need sufficient oil to fry the tinda. When the oil is hot add all tinda like this and cook in the low flame.

Cover it with the plate and put some water on the plate.

Tinda take 8-10 minutes on cook or depend on the tina quality and size.

Check it with the knife, if tinda cooked 80-90% than remove all tinda in a plate.

STEP 3 :

While the tinda is cooking we can prepare the gravy on the side...for that we need all veggies finely chopped. I chopped them in the chopper like this.

Now in the same kadai heat the oil, Even the oil that we used for cooking tinda, we can use that oil, add hing, cumin seeds. When the seeds start to crackle add the chopped veggies. Cook on the low to medium flame for 3-4 minutes add all spices like salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder and also some garam masala. Than again cook for one minute.

STEP 4 :

Add 1/2 cup water to the garvy and wait for boil.

Now add all cooked tinda in it , give it a mix and cook for 3-4 minutes on the low flame.

Tinda absorb all flavours and nicely mixed with gravy.

Your delicious bharava tinda is ready to enjoy. Enjoy it with hot chapati in the lunch or dinner.

I hope you like this recipe and will try soon 🙂
