Splinterlands Battle Mage - Target Practice
Hello Splinterfans!
This week we have the new Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge with the ruleset Target Practice.
This ruleset is one that can be tricky and cause a few problems. It gives ranged and magic attack the snipe ability, so that they can pick off the weakest monsters.
Some tactics to use for this ruleset are to use high mana monsters, or lay some low mana monsters as bait for your opposition, such as a Venari Marksrat who will buff those around him.
The alternative is to counter this and not use any ranged or magic attack 😉.
In today's battle, I decide to avoid mostly ranged and magic attack and try to pick off my opponent with a sneak attack.

ROUND 1 - Cruel Sethropod vs - Xenith Monk
Round 1 starts off well for me with my faster sneak attack taking out Ravenhood Warden and Venari Marksrat.
Is my sneak attack strong enough to outlast the sniping of my opponent?
ROUND 2
Sadly, Musa falls after being poisoned despite gaining some health. My sneak, combined with opportunity attack shows it's strength though.
In the meantime, our tanks are holding each other off, but slowly Cruel is losing the battle as he doesn't have heal like Xenith Monk.
ROUND 3
Round 3 proceeds and I lose Pelacor Bandit against my opponent's Uraeus.
ROUND 4 & 5
Cruel finally falls after the onslaught from Xenith Monk and Shadow Snitch with his reach ability. Up steps a fresh Xenith Monk from my side.
Round 5 concludes with Shadow Snitch being disposed and this is the beginning of the end for my opponent.
Summary:
Target practice can be good for placing low mana decoys like Venari Marksrat who buff your remaining monsters, but you need to be careful that your low mana monsters don't get picked off.
I try to avoid magic and ranged attack so that I can target an attack on the tank or sneak attack from the rear so the attack is more concentrated.
