Division of Labor
Yesterday I made a post about how equality among humans can’t be reached at any point because that’s the way nature has made it. However, no creature is greater than the other, even if it does much work than others.
I believe that division of labor is something that has been practiced for years during the hunting and gathering days when the men are built to hunt and search for food while the women make the meals, feed her husband and kids.
This is the way.
Naturally, a man is supposed to provide for the family, and even though it’s not like that nowadays as many men are choosing not to commit themselves to one woman.
Ladies too, on the other end, are promoting the single motherhood mantra where they decide to be independent without having a man by their side.
Some would even go as far as saying “what a man can do, a woman can do better”, and vice versa.
This is where the disconnection started.
And it keeps on widening, just like the wealth gap.
I got a comment yesterday from my last post, which is what inspired this one and shows how much we humans have chosen to neglect the natural order of things.
The comment was from a man, emphasizing that he can cook and that he even does it better than a lady could. Firstly, I don’t mean to bash the idea that it’s good for a man to know how to cook more than a woman. You should if you can.
However, that doesn’t mean you’ve got to be the one doing the cooking. And while it’s best to decide who’s best suited for the job, you’ve got to also consider who is right for the job.
Naturally, a man is supposed to be a provider, while a woman is the care provider of the family from making meals to making sure the home is clean. I replied him to know if he was willing to cook for the family when married, but I guess I pushed him away with the open onion.
Nevertheless, this is meant to be a safe space, and it’s best to make our ideas open and have an in-depth discussion about them than just trying to push things around as we see fit.
I’m not saying I’m right, but the division of labor is something that has worked for families of past eras of humans. But I don’t think we are going that route nowadays, as we think just because we can do everything all by ourselves means we should do it.
Just because you can do it doesn’t mean you should…
Until next time
