The great Palace of Justice of Peru // El gran Palacio de Justicia del Perú
The city of Lima has countless buildings marked with colonial or neoclassical style, its historic center and many more corners give us a beautiful view of these buildings that give an aura of peace and bohemian; however, there is one in particular that every time I see it makes me feel that I am in another country or that for a moment I am being transported to one of the major cities of Europe and that is none other than the Palace of Justice of Peru, it is located on Avenida Paseo de la Republica in the heart of Lima.
In this photo that I took from a distance you can see its majesty, you can see how it stands out immediately resulting quite different from those that are on its side, it is impossible to pass by there and not turn to appreciate such architectural wonder, obviously the flag that is in the central and upper part is a sign that this is not a palace where a king lives but that it is a governmental space.
From what I could research, this building was built in the late 1930's by a Polish architect who was inspired by the eclectic style, obviously I don't know the terminology but below I will quote its meaning: "Eclecticism is a 19th and 20th century architectural style in which a single work incorporates a mixture of elements from earlier historical styles to create something new and original. In architecture and interior design, these elements may include structural features, furnishings, decorative motifs, distinctive historical ornamentation, traditional cultural motifs, or styles from other countries, with the mix generally chosen based on its suitability for the project and overall aesthetic value."
In the following photo you will see the left wing of the building, which by itself is a rather large construction, covering an entire block, something that is rarely seen in other similar constructions. As you can also see, the entire facility is guarded by police agencies, this taking into account that the city has been involved in protests in recent weeks and this is the main seat of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Peru.
The majestic entrance is adorned with two large columns that give it an air of grandeur and much showiness, the triangular element (I do not know the name) with the words "PALACIO DE JVSTICIA" below it gives us to understand that we are in front of an important place where great decisions will be made. There are also two marble lions that seem to watch over the peace and security of the place.
I took the following photos with the intention of showing you the walkway with green spaces in front which is called Paseo de los Héroes Navales, in this place usually develop outdoor activities with music and events but at that time when I approached to record such a building the heat was so hot that you could barely walk, so by that time it was completely empty.

Hey what a beautiful architecture at first sight never thought of Peru and with the migration of friends there one sees is pure desert and beaches hehehe
In the colonial quarter and historic center of Lima there are many such buildings, however in my opinion this is the largest and most imposing of all. Thanks for your support. Greetings!
Elaborate. Gorgeous. Majestic. These are the best adjectives I'd use to describe the Palace of Justice of Peru! With its eclectic style of architecture, that government building becomes a visual treat exhibiting the variety of classical design characteristics fused into one amazing masterpiece. By the way, that triangular structure on the upper portion of the main entrance supported by 2 large columns and below the roof with the inscription "PALACIO DE JVSTICIA" is called the PEDIMENT. 👍
Greetings @musicandreview, a warm welcome to the Architecture+Design Community! 😊
So it's called Pediment, I confess that I looked it up on the internet and didn't get it 😅, I guess it's terminology that only architects use. Those three words you mentioned are perfect, the truth is that when you pass by there you can't take your eyes off it, it has spectacular details and at the same time it is colossal.
Thank you for the welcome, I hope to come back soon 😉!
Warmly welcome Architecture+Design community @musicandreview. The architectural features of this building make it look like a royal palace. Indeed, if the external architectural features are so striking, it is difficult to imagine the splendor inside. A similar building is located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is the Presidential Secretariat. But the building in our country is not as big as the building in Peru. High concrete pillars, attractive looking window shapes and mind-blowing shapes add to the elegance.
I have seen on the internet the building of the Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka and it is true that it has similarities but the pillars are more predominant and it is smaller. One element that was implemented almost equally was the Pediment, a term I learned today 😅.
Thank you for your visit and support. Greetings!

It is a majestic place. You can feel the elegance of the place.
Elegant! I missed using that word in the written part of my post, you are absolutely right! Thanks for noticing and for visiting me. Regards!
Wow, it is incredible the imposingness of this beautiful place. I love its infrastructure, it makes me think of ancient Greece. I love the images you captured, you can tell that this work was done with love guys...
Imposing is one of the right words to describe this place, I would also add colossal, in person it gives that impression. Thanks for your support brother. Regards!
Such old buildings are also very cute in appearance, the way we see it, it is very strong and very beautiful. It happens by looking at different maps and seeing different things.
Looking at the map and visiting those places with my mind is an exercise I often do, especially when I am at work, I like to think that at some point I will be able to go to those places personally. Thanks for your support!!!
Peru's palace is very beautiful and looks sturdy, the design and architecture of the building looks very beautiful
Robust is a good word to describe it, you're absolutely right; and of course it's super pretty, it's addictive to the eye when you're in front of it. Cheers!
