First look at Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (RETRO GAMEPLAY)

I continue in my efforts to dust off old platform games that are rarely used today, I do this because I value the games that were pioneers in different genres that today are very famous. The fighting genre is of course one that still continues to give us something to talk about, and well, if something we must recognize is that games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter have a lot to do with the rise of the genre. So, what I bring you is a gameplay of “Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike”, a game that was released for Dreamcast in 2000, but had already seen the light of day on other platforms a year earlier.

So, in the video you will be able to determine more clearly what the options menu and the game modes are like, but I will talk briefly about what you can see at first glance. There are three game modes, the traditional Arcade, Versus which is for two players and Training which obviously serves to get to know the game before starting the fights. Then we have the other options that are the traditional ones, but the one called “System direction” caught my attention, I had not seen it before.

I selected the Arcade mode to play and the first character I chose was Chun-Li, even though it's the first time I play Street Fighter I know she is an iconic fighter, so I bet on her. For the second fight I chose the famous Ryu as I felt I needed more strength in the blows, and well, the results were evident.

A particularity that this game has is that before each fight you can choose the opponent, two fighters from different regions are shown and that from my point of view is positive because you can choose the opponent that you think is more convenient.

As far as the gameplay is concerned, I must say that it is quite fluid and dynamic, not far from other games of the genre, but it is quite fun and with good rhythm and speed. Although the graphics are the traditional Arcade ones, there are moments in which they raise the level, such as, for example, when the players throw the techniques.

In summary, it is a good game, with a very fluid gameplay that makes you be attentive to every move, there are good fighters and good battle techniques, in addition, the graphics are very striking and little stressful. I plan to bring in the future other versions of this franchise that deserves a place in the history of fighting games.

The review of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is very detailed and highlights the points that make the game so memorable.

The fluidity of the fights and the dynamics of the gameplay are really outstanding features of the title, and the description of the special techniques with enhanced visuals is a good highlight.

This is cool.

Yes, the truth is a good game, I think it served as a starting point for other titles that were later released and were successful. I would play Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike forever, I liked it a lot.
