NeedleworkMonday: Toy-Contest + Startitis

Ich liebe Herausforderungen und Wettbewerbe hier auf Steem - oft bekomme ich Ideen für Beiträge oder Projekte, die ich sonst nicht gemacht hätte. Wenn ich hier einen Post sehe mit einem solchen Thema, öffne ich ihn in einem Tab und denke: "Mach ich dann später". Später... naja... meistens ist später "zu spät". Heute enthält dieser Beitrag einen "Last Minute Beitrag" für einen solchen Wettbewerb ;)

I love challenges and contests - often you get ideas for posts or projects you wouldn't have done otherwise. When I see a post here with such a topic, I open it in a tab and think "I'll get to that later". Later... well... most of the time later is "too late". Today this post contains a "last minute entry" for such a contest ;)

Darf ich Friedrich-Wilhelm vorstellen? Er ist nicht wirklich ein Spielzeug - er hat einen wichtigen Job! Er ist der Hüter meines Bücherregals und muss auf alle Bücher aufpassen. Deshalb hat er eine etwas ernste Miene und ist nicht heiter und sorglos.

May I present Friedrich-Wilhelm? He's not really a toy - he has an important job! He's the guardian of my bookcase and has to keep all the books in hand. That's why he has a more serious mien rather than carefree and happy.

Er wurde mit Nadelfilzen hergestellt - ein großes Ei für den Körper, ein kleineres in Braun mit einem weißen Kern, der halbiert wurde für die Ohren, und zwei kleine Kugeln, die für Hände und Füße halbiert wurden. Er hat mich wirklich Blut, Schweiß und Tränen gekostet - diese Filznadeln sind gefährliche Werkzeuge! Aber das Schwierigste war sein Gesicht - Augen, Nase und Mund mit der Filznadel zu formen, war nervenaufreibende Präzisionsarbeit!

He was made by needle felting - a big "egg" form, a smaller one in brown with a white core that was cut in the middle for the ears and two small balls that were cut for hands and feet. He really cost me blood, sweat and tears - these felting needles are dangerous tools! But the most difficult thing was his face - shaping the eyes, nose and mouth with the felting needle was nerve-wracking precision work!

Startitis

Ihr kennt das, wenn man ein Muster sieht und denkt: "Das ist schön, das sollte ich eines Tages machen!" oder "Das wäre toll für dieses oder jenes Garn". Nun, in den letzten Wochen habe ich nicht nur so gedacht, ich habe es auch getan. Mehrere neue Projekte wurden gestartet - und es ist nicht so, dass ich nicht genug angefangene habe... Ja, deshalb wird das als "Startitis" bezeichnet und mich hat es damit schwer erwischt.

You know how it is when you see a pattern and think "That's nice, I should do that one day!" or "That would be great for this or that yarn". Well, in the last weeks I didn't only think these things, I did it. Several new projects were started - and it's not that I haven't enought unfinished others... Yes, that's why this is called 'startitis' and I caught a heavy case of it.

Ein Babypulli, ich hatte ja schon davon erzählt. Aus Sockengarn-Resten, doppelt gehalten. Nur noch das Bündchen unten und die Ärmel.		A baby sweater - I already talked about that. It's quite far, only the bottom edge and the sleeves left.
Ein kreuz und quer gestricktes Tuch - ich fand die Technik interessant und ich habe da seit Jahren dieses Garn liegen mit dem ich schon zwei andere Projekte angefangen hatte und es doch nicht passte...		A CrissCross shawl - the technique intrigued me and there was this old sock yarn...
Und was Gehäkeltes zum Ausgleich - und wer kann einer Anleitung mit dem Titel "Überquerung des Brandyweins"1 widerstehen?		Some crocheting to counterbalance all this knitting - another shawl. It's called "Crossing the Brandywine"1, who could resist that?
