CineTV Contest - Movies That Most Represent Kindness

Kindness is a virtue that we all need to practice more often in our lives. When you are kind, it makes others feel good and can even help you in your own life as well. The following movies show kindness in many different ways.

“The Wizard of Oz” (1939)

In this classic movie, Dorothy is trying to get home after being swept away by a tornado. She meets a scarecrow who has no brain, a tin man with no heart and a cowardly lion. These three companions join forces and follow the yellow brick road to find the wizard so they can be together again. As they travel along the way, they encounter various obstacles and meet some strange characters like the wicked witch, the flying monkeys and the ruby slippers. However, their journey isn't easy and there are times when Dorothy's courage is tested. Eventually, she overcomes these challenges and reaches her goal. In the end, all four friends return home where they live happily ever after.

“Finding Nemo” (2003)

Nemo is an orange clownfish who was separated from his father Marlin at a young age. After he gets lost, he ends up on the open ocean and is captured by a diver named Dory. Nemo and Dory travel through the sea to find Nemo's father, but along the way they meet other characters like Crush, a seahorse and Bruce the shark. They also encounter many dangers such as a barracuda, jellyfish and a whale. Their journey proves difficult, but eventually they succeed in reuniting with Nemo's father. The family is reunited and they all live happily ever after.

“Miracle on 34th Street” (1994)

Kris Kringle is a man who claims to be Santa Claus. He takes over Macy's department store and becomes a popular figure among the children. However, Kris doesn't have any proof that he really is Santa. His wife, Doris, knows better and tries to prove him wrong. She hires a lawyer named Peter to defend Kris in court. Meanwhile, Doris and her daughter Susan begin to believe that Kris is indeed the real Santa Claus. The case against Kris goes before a judge and he is found innocent. At the same time, Kris starts to become depressed because people don't believe in him anymore. Later, Kris visits the courthouse and finds out that he won his case. Then, one day while working at Macy's, Kris sees a little girl and realizes that he still does have the spirit of Christmas. Kris returns home and Doris and Susan finally believe that Kris is the real Santa Claus.

“The Sound of Music” (1965)

Maria is a nun who leaves the convent to marry Captain von Trapp. She moves into his house with seven children and teaches them how to sing. Maria and the children are happy and they all learn to love each other. However, the captain is forced to leave Austria due to the rise of Hitler. They go to America and Maria continues to teach the children to sing. One day, they are discovered by a talent scout and are invited to perform in New York City. While they are there, the Nazis come and take Maria and the children away. The captain decides to join the war effort and fight the Nazi's. Eventually, the captain is able to rescue Maria and bring her back to his home. The two are reunited and they live happily ever after.

“Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” (1971)

A young boy named Charlie Bucket is given five golden tickets by Willy Wonka. Each ticket allows its holder to visit the chocolate factory and receive a lifetime supply of candy. Charlie is excited about the opportunity and wants to see what the factory is all about. On his first day at the factory, he meets four other winners: Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, Augustus Gloop and Mike Teevee. Together, they make their way through the factory, encountering many different challenges. They eventually reach the fudge room where they try to eat as much candy as possible. However, they get stuck in a pipe and are sucked down into the ground. There, they encounter Augustus who is now a giant. The four children work together to defeat Augustus and escape. They then return home and share their stories with their parents.

“Bambi” (1942)

This animated film follows Bambi's life as he grows up in the forest. He has many adventures, including learning to hunt for food. One day, a hunter shoots Bambi's mother and he runs off crying. A few days later, Bambi's mother dies and he learns to cope with her death. Eventually, he begins to understand that it is okay to grieve and he can move on.

“The Little Mermaid” (1989)

After giving up her voice to gain human legs, Ariel is banished from the kingdom of Atlantica. She meets Prince Eric and falls in love with him. She tries to convince him to let her stay with him, but he refuses. Instead, he tells her that he will grant her wish if she agrees to give up her voice and return to the sea. Ariel gives up her voice and returns to the ocean, but she is miserable. She misses singing and being part of the world above. Eventually, she is visited by a mermaid named Flounder who helps her regain her happiness. She returns to Prince Eric and sings a song that changes his mind. He decides to let her stay and they both live happily ever after.

“Beauty and the Beast” (1991)

Belle is a bookworm who lives in a small village. She is always reading books and is fascinated by the outside world. Her father, Maurice, is a candlestick maker who is afraid of leaving his home. He has a terrible fear of the beast who lives in the castle. One day, Belle and her father are taken prisoner by the beast. After spending some time together, the beast realizes that Belle is not a threat. He lets her go and she returns home. She soon discovers that her father is missing and sets off to find him. Along the way, she meets Gaston, the handsome and arrogant hunter. Gaston tries to capture Belle and take her to the beast. She escapes and makes her way to the castle where she encounters the beast once again. The beast lets her inside and she discovers that he is actually a prince who has been cursed. He cannot leave the castle until someone loves him. Belle takes pity on the beast and eventually falls in love with him. She reveals herself to him and the two are married.

“Lady and the Tramp” (1955)

Lady is a cocker spaniel who is looking for a place to belong. She ends up in the city and is picked up by a stray mutt named Tramp. The two quickly become best friends and start hanging out together. Lady and Tramp spend their time exploring the city and playing games. One day, they meet a pretty woman named Mrs. Pusskins. She invites them to dinner and they enjoy themselves. However, the next morning, the two dogs are gone and so is Mrs. Pusskins. The woman comes back and brings her cat, Scamper. She explains that she rescued the dogs from an abusive owner and now she is trying to find homes for them. Lady and Tramp are sad and decide to leave the city. They go back to the country where they live happily ever after.

“Lassie Come Home” (1943)

Lassie is a collie who is searching for her owner. She gets lost in the woods and is separated from her family. She meets several different people and animals along the way and tries to help them. Eventually, she finds her way back home where she reunites with her owners.

“Dumbo” (1941)

Baby elephant Dumbo is ridiculed because of his large ears. His mother tries to protect him and warns him not to fly. However, he is determined to prove himself and he learns how to use his ears to soar through the sky. He becomes very popular and is even adopted by an old couple. However, one day, a circus arrives in town and they want to buy Dumbo for their act. The old couple refuses to sell him and they flee the circus with Dumbo. Eventually, Dumbo is able to escape from the circus and returns home where he is welcomed by his mother.

“The Fox and the Hound” (1981)

Hound is a fox who is always getting into trouble. He is constantly causing problems for the farmer and his family. One day, the farmer's son, Copper, decides to befriend Hound. They become friends and go on adventures together. However, one day, a hunter comes and tries to catch Hound. The hunter is injured and Copper is forced to save his life. He does so and Hound is grateful. Later, the two set off on another adventure where they meet a new friend, a young rabbit named Tod. They all travel together and have many adventures. In the end, the three friends return home where they are reunited with their families.

“The Jungle Book” (1967)

Mowgli is raised by wolves after his parents die. One day, he is attacked by a tiger and is forced to run away. He meets Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther. They take him under their wing and show him how to survive in the jungle. Mowgli learns to hunt and fish, but he is still lonely. One day, he encounters a group of monkeys and is welcomed into their tribe. They tell him that they are going to perform a ritual called the "honeymoon" where they will dance and eat honey. However, they do not realize that Mowgli is a human and he eats the honey. When they discover this, they chase him away. Mowgli runs away and stumbles upon Shere Khan the tiger. Shere Khan tries to attack him, but Mowgli fights back and defeats him. Mowgli returns home and tells everyone about the honeymoon. The villagers are terrified and decide to banish him from the village. However, Baloo and Bagheera come and rescue Mowgli. They help him return home and apologize for their actions. Mowgli forgives them and the two become friends once again.
