Searching Herbs
Having the knowledge of herbs is a good thing for not taking chemicals in our bodies. Although, there's a risk because some herbs didn't undergo research or didn't have approval from professionals. Who knows more about the safety or the effective herbs when they disregarded the truth about it? Well, money is more important so they prefer chemical medicine of course.
Anyway, walking has been my daily morning activity for days already. When I had the time, I didn't hesitate to go out for a walk. It's not just about physical exercise but also mental exercise maybe. But, there is a but because I don't just go out for a walk. I make sure there's a goal for my walking, like what I'm hoping to see or find. I don't know why but it was the other day when I decided to search for herbs nearby. I just thought it was a good thing to learn where they were when I'd need them in time but not wishing for them to be used.
Malunggay Leaves
So first on the list is that Malunggay leaves. Well, we all know how this plant is popular in the Philippines as a vegetable leaf. You can always find these leaves when there's a soup dish being served. Usually, it's used when there's fresh fish to cook or sometimes used with pork. I don't know but most people used this leaf vegetable because of the vitamins it provides.
It has vitamins, however, I include this one because it can be used in treating external wounds. We always use it when we have a cut, scratch or even a deeper wound. Oh, I remember what happened to me when I was maybe 8 years old. My finger was almost cut in half and it hung up like just a small cut of a scissor; it would be separated from the other half of it. Fortunately, my older sister was there to take care of the wound because it never stopped bleeding. She pounded the leaves of it with the use of a stone so that the liquid could be extracted from the leaves. She placed it in a piece of clothing and then wrapped it into my wound. The bleeding has stopped but it stings more compared to alcohol. Even so, for a week, the cut was cured so I have knowledge about using the malunggay leaves in healing wounds.
Guava Leaves
For most common people they are all aware that guava fruit is the one that can be usable or beneficial in this plant. Of course, guava fruit is very delicious and from what I learned from books and the internet, it offers many vitamins. Although, I'm sure people don't care much about the vitamins it gives but the deliciousness of it.
If you wonder why it's included here, don't be surprised. Just like malunggay leaves it can be used in treating wounds with the same procedure, to extract liquid from it. However, it's not about it, it's about how it cures cough. I'm aware that some people boil the leaves in using it but there's another in using it. When you cough it is unstoppable like you even have a hard time breathing. You get a leaf bud and then chew it. You'll be surprised that you will then stop coughing. I'm talking about experience here, but still, it's your decision and research if you will try it. I'm just giving you an idea of what kind of plants can be useful as herbs.
I guess I'm not that familiar with this place here. I only found these two plants to be useful as herbs. There were more but with the same usage so I decided not to include it. Still, I'm open to learning more about herbs because I believe in their effectiveness.
