Miss San Francisco 2024 (Beauty Pageant)
“Who is the Fairest of them All”, but remember that “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
Beauty pageant was started since Ancient Greece. It was that time when a poor mortal Goathered, Alexandris (Paris) was called upon to settle a dispute among the Goddesses; Who was the most beautiful of them, Hera (Juno), Aphrodite (Venus) or Athena(Minerva). The three Goddesses offered each a bribe to the mortal, obviously to determine who was the most beautiful of the three. However, when Aphrodite offered Helen of Troy, which was the most beautiful mortal at that time. Paris selected Aphrodite as the most beautiful one, but not through her physique or personality maybe but because of what she offered to the mortal.
Going to the future, the first truly modern beauty contest, involving the display of women’s faces and figures before the judge, was on 1850’s at “dime museum” in New York City owned by Barnum. Decades now, generations to generations, the competition of beauty has become popular all over the world. Not just women to show their body figures or physique but the intellectual aspects as well. From others' perspective, it might just be showing off a sexy body with seductive clothings. Actually, it boosts a woman’s morale and confidence in every aspect of her personality.
With the modernization of the world, the competition of beauty has had an impact on the economy. Beauty products, cosmetics, tourism promotions, advertisements and many more. The empowerment of beauty pageant symbolises beauty, strength, knowledge and confidence. I should not be misunderstood just because of the clothing they’re wearing. There’s a phrase I wanted to be heard by everyone. “Every woman is beautiful and should be treated with respect.”
Now, the time has come, let the beautiful ladies of the town of San Francisco be confident to show to the world their one of a kind beauty. 18 ladies, representing their very own Brgy. where they’re living. When the colourful lights lit up the stadium, beautiful ladies were coming out and showing their pretty clothing starting with a casual gown, followed with their bikinis and ending with their grandest wonderful gown.
The decision making who was the fairest was hard to decide. There was always a favourable one but it doesn’t mean the judges thought the same. There are requirements and criteria must be followed to determine who was the most beautiful.
18 ladies turned the numbers into 5 or 5 girls who remained standing on the stage and then decided who was the fairest of them all. There were speculation and rumours because of denying the judge's decisions. Some people were just unsatisfied or could not accept the fact that the lady they favoured didn't make it or didn’t win.
No matter what we thought of, this is still a competition and will be decided depending on the score of every judge. Each judge has their own aspects in judging about understanding a woman’s beauty and intellect. Whoever will win doesn’t mean by one person’s decision making. The judges' scores are added together in determining the winner of the competition of beauty. Never forget that a beauty pageant is not just being decided with physique alone but the intellect as well.
