Lilo - Wawa Festival
Festival is a big celebration here in the Philippines. It tells about history, culture and religion. You know Filipinos love gathering and having fun as well. But one thing is for sure, a Festival will tell you about how and when that certain place, brgy, or town has named one.
So “Lilo - Wawa Festival” came from the Visayan word called “lilo” which means a whirlpool. According to the locals, there are many holes under the sea that create strong current under the seawater. “Wawa” is a Visayan word too but the name of that tall and long bridge connected the panaon island from the mainland.
Obviously, when there’s a festival you can only expect colors and artistic features from everyone. However, because of the lively ambience and colorful surroundings encouraged people to join the celebration. It was a very beautiful day indeed, the sun was so high and the sky was clear as bright. Water, umbrellas, cups and different items to relieve from the hotness of that day. A solution was the best option since it was nice to witness the big celebration of the Festival.
Wait, wan we talk about what happened at that celebration? Actually, the town’s Mayor together with the single person who sponsored made the festival bigger. There was a cultural dance competition which was presented with three (3) presentees.
Street dance came first before presenting their best in that bigger stage where the competition was being judged. Just on that street, the aura was filled with joy and excitement. The pretty and colorful costumes made the people love the presentees more.
When the presentation happened on that wider stage a lot of spectators were there. Of course, a celebration should not be missed. That’s why a lot of photographers and videographers came to witness the celebration. I was one of them who enjoyed every photograph being captured randomly; Whether from the presenters or just from the locals who were there.
The celebration was a success, no, it was a blast when the competition ended.. The people were still there to spend more time and to roam around which made the town still lively. The day of Festive was still on going after all. Oh yeah, drinking and dancing with everyone was next to end the day with exhaustion.
