A Debut
Growing old is a way of process in life. You get older, so you should think clearer and wiser. Though age is just a number, it's being counted as the lifespan of a human’s life in this world. Who is not afraid of death when it's the evidence that life no longer exists. It might be scary but death makes life beautiful because there will be limitations, boundaries and fear. Also, life becomes interesting because of the thought of wanting or not wanting, having or just not because there is fear to restrict one's life to do something reckless.
A Debut celebration is not experienced by many. It’s not a privilege nor an opportunity, it’s a gift to parents who think they can afford the expenses and let their children feel like a princess. Celebrating a Debut Birthday Celebration requires not an ordinary amount of money. The food should be served with a huge amount, the decorations should be colorful and there are more. It should be expected since the visitors are quite many as well. So beforehand, offer gratitude to your parents for giving an opportunity to experience a magical birthday celebration.
What is a Debut?
Actually, it’s an old tradition in the Philippines that a girl is turning to be a woman or a woman is coming to maturity or in her legal age. That’s why there are those 18 roses which will be held and be given to 18 men too. Perhaps it’s a sign that a woman can now accept suitors or will have a relationship now. There is no concrete evidence if a woman after celebrating her debut is now allowed to be in a relationship with same sex or opposite sex. One thing is for sure, whether it’s allowed or not, 18 years old is a sign of maturity for a woman.
About the party when it started, the men danced after giving the roses with the debutant as they spoke to her like courting. They enjoy the music that plays and when it stops the message of someone dear to the debutant comes after. There are dramas, honest comments and sometimes just joking around. This time the words that aren’t always to speak will now speak out. Though tears come out especially when a parent starts talking, it’s not sadness ones, but happy ones to tell that a debutant is being loved. It’s obvious, since a big celebration is being celebrated.
It’s okay to cry or laugh out loud, from happiness because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity experienced. Yes, this is a special one together with the special people you are surrounded by.
