Work Should Begin Already

When the holiday started, I was in top gear celebration, hoping to get the best fun ever. The fun has been crazy, really but the truth is that we can never be satisfied with what fun we seek. Christmas came too quick for me as I was fixed with engagement on Christmas eve, something I haven't done in a while.

Don't be confused…..like what Mr. Paul (the comedian) would do his audience. My top gear celebration started when all my family members started arriving from different parts of the country where they work and reside. Like a child, my joy was expressed outwardly and my siblings saw it. You know such emotional display when you have seen someone dear to you a long time ago.

My holiday was supposed to be for three weeks. These three weeks was supposed to be my annual leave from work but even at that, the office kept calling me back for one assignment or the other. My annual leave of three weeks have been affected and now I am booked to resume work on the 6th of January instead of 13th.

When I left the office on the 20th of December, in my head, I have calculated how the three weeks would be spent. I crafted out a routine already but it didn't live to see daylight.

December 24th and 26th was just one of such tough days for me. I conducted several sessions of interviews for new would be employees as the company is preparing to add more hands come January.

Aside from that, I have incurred many expenses during this past one week. The cost of food prices and canteen , restaurants and relaxation centres around the city of Lagos is out of this world.

For now, the thought of paying school fees and preparing the children for resumption is already occupying my reasoning. That is all about money. So, now I am ready to go back to work because staying at home would not bring me any more money. There is assurance that there could be one or two deals when I go back to work.

When you stay home, there is tendency to spend more. My wife is indifferent about my resumption. To her, I should take one week after the new year celebrations to rest because according to her, I need it.

I understand her plight.

There is no need to argue with her on that grounds. I just want to keep the family running. Staying at home in the name of the holiday will not bring me the needed funds, hence, I accept the call to return back to work on the 6th of January.

One of the things I pledged to do when I resume is to focus on self development. Holidays are not worth it when one does not have enough funds to have a filled time. I have decided to look into developing my real estate agency side hustles. The few times I had one or two sales, the profit was quite encouraging. Aside from working as an administrative staff, there is need to up my game to be financially independent.

Another thing is that during period like this, one should spend only according to his or her pockets when you look at how some folks spend money, it would look like one does not know how to work and make money. The truth is that we do different things to make money. Some legit, other illegitimate. My philosophy has been over the years that you cut your coat according to your cloth.
