Traveling Heals Your Mindset: Do It At Least Once In A Lifetime
Compliments of the season, dear friends.
This weekend, I will like to share with you one thing you must ensure you do now that you are alive. Though, there are tens of things that one should experience in life but when we place them in order of priority, you will find out that traveling out from your place of origin is one thing that makes us appreciate life to the fullest.
Travelling is when one leaves the borders where he or she has fore-knowledge of and moves to a place or country with an entirely different culture, language and perhaps, skin pigment.
Like I always love to reiterate that one of the most traveled people in the entire globe is the Igbo people of eastern Nigeria. There is even a saying that is making the rounds now that anywhere you go, I mean, any country you travel to, if you do not find an Igbo man there, just know that the place may not be too profitable.
However, traveling does to you what other engagements do not do to your person. I would share with you in this post some of the intricate relevance of traveling to you as a person.
Respect For Other People's Culture
Culture as we all know is the dynamic way of life of a people. It helps define how people do their things and a combination of lifestyles a group of people lives. Culture may not be the same everywhere. Since it is the way of life of a people from time immemorial, we have been asked to respect it as much as it does not pose a threat or indicate to be harmful to us.
One thing that the whole world needs now is the spirit of tolerance. To be able to treat people with respect no matter their social status or background.
When you explore the world through traveling, your knowledge about diverse cultures would come to the fore. Hence, traveling becomes one activity that one must partake in that will influence his or her life for the rest of his or her life.
Food
I have learned to eat food of other ethnic groups through the opportunity that I have to travel. You must have heard of Amala Didi, a special delicacy of the Yoruba people. Not just the Yoruba people but those from Oyo. They spice this meal up with Gbegiri and Ewedu. Amala itself is made from cassava flakes and yam. While Gbegiri is made from beans and Ewedu is jute leaf. A combination of this meal gives a whole lot to your taste buds.
From Ofe Nsala, Oha, Onugbu, and so on, I can proudly say that I can conveniently eat some food from other tribes of the world. This is what traveling has influenced me with.
People And Language
Through travelling, I have met people of different shades and cuts. Now, I have been able to apply the principle of individual differences when dealing with others. This is one thing that traveling has helped me with.
Moreso, I can speak other languages aside from English and my mother tongue. This is one thing I am proud about.
Broader Perspective To The World
Traveling helps you to see the world beyond your place of birth or residence. The world is large but travelling brings other cultures closer to us and gives the ability to embrace and appreciate.
