This Drama Has To End || Creative Nonfiction #99
What's she doing here?
Nnena asked as she opened the door and saw Tobi. I guess she was mad at me already.
Sorry, babe. Please, meet Tobi, my partner in the office. Tobi, kindly meet my girlfriend, Nnena.
Tobi stretched out her right hand for a handshake but was ignored by Nnena. She walked angrily to the bedroom upstairs. In no time she came down stairs, dressed in skimpy clothes, sat and took a daring gaze at me then at Tobi.
I think I'd be on my way now, Terry.
Tobi understood all the gestures and demanded to take her leave. She stood up and I followed her to the door. We bid each other goodbye. Then, I came back to the living room to meet my lioness, Nnena.
What's all that drama about, babe?
I said to Nnena as she stood to confront me like a fighter.
You came home with a lady without my consent and now you want to rub it on my face?
She was getting angrier from the protruding vein in her neck as she spoke back to me.
You never knew I'd check in today. I caught you unawares, isn't it?
She continued, trying to make a point like she caught me in a romance scene with Tobi.
Come off it, Nnena. We only have to conclude a project assigned to us by the manager, nothing more.
This is about the third time Nnena will speak to my female guests in an unworthy manner. It has been like that ever since we started dating.
Why do you feel insecure seeing me with the opposite sex?
I demanded. But Nnena has nothing to say in reply. At this point, I walked out of the living room. She probably read my countenance and followed me towards the laundry, apologising for being so rude to my guest, Tobi.
It wasn't like I had anything with Tobi or any other lady for that matter. Our wedding is just a few months away, yet, she still feels like I would take advantage to cheat on her.
Terry, please forgive me. It won't happen again.
She promised but I knew she would repeat this same ugly attitude of hers in no distant time.
Babe, all I just need is for you to turn a new leaf. We can't be on the same issue all the time.
Our relationship was like heaven on earth. Nnena was everything I needed in a woman. She could cook. She practically knows everything about making her man happy except the issue of suspicion and trust.
Three months after the saga with Tobi, Lois, my cousin who lived abroad, came back to the country. Since I work and live in Lagos, she decided to stay with me for a couple of days.
Lois was a calm and down to earth lady. She studied medicine but needed to undertake the one year compulsory youth service to be eligible for employment in Nigeria. She was exactly the same age as Nnena.
On the day she arrived, we reminisced about old times before she went abroad for her undergraduate studies. I took time to tell her about my love life. I showed her the pictures of Nnena.
You surely have an eye for good things.
Lois reiterated upon seeing how beautiful Nnena looks. It was a long night but we fell asleep while discussing it in the living room.
At dawn, I ran to prepare for work after making breakfast for two. I couldn't wait to eat. So, I packed mine and rushed out to catch the next taxi to the office. My immediate boss does not condone lateness.
To my surprise, when I got home after the day's work, I met Lois outside my apartment, water dripping from her clothes and her bags outside.
What's all this, Lois?
I inquired from my poor cousin who already had red eyes. She must have wept her eyes off.
Your girlfriend threw my things out. She poured water on me.
I felt so embarrassed and speechless. All I could do at the moment was to hold Lois by her hand, my cross bag on my shoulder as I dragged Lois' travelling bag into the house.
Where the heck are you taking this slot to?
Nnena couldn't even respect the fact that I was around. She wanted to pounce on Lois, even in my presence.
Babe!!! Stop!!
Breathing heavily, Nnena looked me in the eye and saw that I was mad at her.
Aren't you going to tell me where you are taking her to?
She continued.
This is the height of all your drama. How on earth could you do this to my cousin?
On hearing that statement, Nnena sunk into the sofa.
Don't give me that cock and bull story.
She was still in doubt of who Lois was to me.
This is Dada Ogbom's daughter I told you about. She came back from the UK yesterday.
She acted as if a life wire was clipped on her body. Shocked and confused of what she had done, she rushed toward me to say "I am sorry" but I pushed her away and took Lois to the visitor's room to change her clothes. After that, I came to the living room to meet Nnena.
I think we have come to the end of this relationship. Please, let me have my spare key. I don't want to see you again.
She rushed towards me, knelt down and began to beg. Soon, Lois came and apologised on her behalf. It was just about three months to our wedding.
If you can't trust me now that we aren't even married, you'd do worse when we eventually get married.
I was convinced that Nnena was a beautiful woman. The one I would have loved to spend the rest of my life with but her insecurities is one thing I cannot live with. We parted ways on that note and we were happy friends ever after.
This story is a heartbreaking reminder that trust is the foundation of any relationship. Without it, even the strongest love can crumble. Sorry you had to go through this, but glad you're moving forward."
Yes, I moved on but would have loved to be married to Nnena. Every man's dream is to have a peaceful home but on the contrary, Nnena appeared to be a jealous love. Jealous over nothing.
Ooh that’s crazy
How will she even send your cousin out? If you marry such person, she will do worse
That’s certain
Even though she never knew Lois was my cousin, courtesy demands that she waited till I was back from work before she acts. It was a terrible experience.
Omo!!! This story! I had to confirm it's fiction but it's not.... I am speechless 😑
It's a real life experience.
Wow! Glad you guys remained friends.
Jealousy and mistrust can end a relationship. You did well to end the relationship that was going to continue to suffer setbacks over time and with children on board it is more complicated leaving someone because it is no longer a matter of two but rather more people are involved.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Excellent day.
It would have been more disastrous had I allowed my emotions to overcome reality. I did what was important to escape a toxic marriage and I am glad I did.
Hello @mrenglish
You made a good decision because jealousy is terrible in a relationship. Good thing you were able to see it in time.
Good message in your story
