From Schools to Society: Inspiring Change Through Daily Actions.
The world today is facing a great turmoil. Every day we see, along with education, the condition of our environment and society is deteriorating day by day. Although we are getting educated, but the effect of that education is not observed in our behavior in life. Adverse human behavior, natural disasters and indiscriminate development are turning our world into an unstable and ruinous mess. This question gets me thinking every day—how can I create mindfulness in my daily life? And how can I make this world a little bit better?
My sense of personal responsibility made me engage in a special project, known as the 'WASH Project'. Every day I visit a school and talk to students and educate them about the need and what to do to keep our environment beautiful. I think school is our second home. Just as we never keep our own house clean, if the school is considered as our own house, then the students will feel the need to keep the school grounds clean out of their sense of responsibility. So I teach them—how to regularly clean the school grounds, bathrooms and toilets, and inculcate cleanliness habits.
Another important part of my work is to create awareness about hygiene and sanitation. I teach the students the importance of washing their hands regularly, especially before eating and after using the toilet, explaining why it is important to wash their hands. Sometimes we don't give importance to this small task, but it is very important for maintaining health.
I don't just stop with hygiene education, but organize various seminars and workshops for both children and adolescents on menstrual health and puberty. Due to many superstitions and ignorance in the society, children cannot discuss this openly. But I want them not to be ashamed and develop healthy habits. I teach girls—what to do for menstrual health and how to keep themselves clean. Also, try to make boys aware of puberty changes and responsibilities, so that they can respect each other and develop proper attitudes.
Every step in our lives—even the smallest daily actions—affects the environment and society. We may not realize it, but the consequences of our actions matter to future generations. So I try every day to make students aware through their daily activities, so that they understand the impact their actions have on the environment.
The initiative also involves major NGOs, who are working to increase environmental awareness, hygiene education, and bring about positive change at every level of society. Organizations like UNICEF, WHO, BRAC are making our work easier, as they provide a lot of research and information and help in raising this awareness. Through them we can introduce improved sanitation systems in schools, conduct health awareness programs and teach children proper hygiene.
I believe that our daily thoughts and actions—where family ideals, school education, and NGO cooperation work together—can make this world a little bit better. We should ensure our participation in this change. Because, every small initiative is part of a bigger picture, which will make the coming days more beautiful and sustainable.
I think these activities are excellent to teach children that they are the future of the planet, it is also necessary to instill in them a love for nature and the preservation of the environment. Empathy for everything around them. Congratulations @mrarhat
