[ESP-ING] Mi mamá rescató un pollito | My mom rescued a chick

¡Hola Hivers! | Hi Hivers!

En esta oportunidad vengo a contarles la historia de cómo mi mama se consiguió un pollito.

Esta historia comienza temprano por la mañana en un día soleado, donde mi mama como suele acostumbrar, se sienta en la puerta de la casa para tomar un poco de aire fresco y distraerse mientras ve a la gente pasar o saludando algún conocido, ya sea de adentro o de fuera de la comunidad.

This time I come to tell you the story of how my mom got a chick.

This story begins early in the morning on a sunny day, where my mom, as usual, sits at the door of the house to get some fresh air and distract herself while she watches people passing by or greeting someone she knows, either from inside or outside the community.

Recuerdo que ese día iba de salida con mi novia a pasear por el centro de la ciudad. Cuando estoy contándole a mi mamá para donde voy y despedirme pidiéndole la bendición, veo que viene acercándose un señor por nuestro lado de la acera con una caja bastante alargada en la cual tenía unos cables entre lado y lado que le ayudaban a sujetarla entre sus hombros. Este se detiene saludando a mi mamá y coloca la caja en el suelo; donde yo aprovecho de pedirle la bendición a mi madre e irme.

I remember that day I was going out with my girlfriend for a walk in the center of the city. When I was telling my mother where I was going and saying goodbye and asking for her blessing, I saw a man approaching from our side of the sidewalk with a long box with some cables between the sides that helped him to hold it between his shoulders. He stops to greet my mother and places the box on the ground, where I take the opportunity to ask my mother's blessing and leave.

Después de pasar una tarde agradable con mi novia, al llegar mi mama me recibe con una sonrisa y dice “Te tengo un cuento” a lo que pienso yo “Que habrá hecho ahora”, pues al igual que yo de vez en cuando sale con alguna ocurrencia. xD

After spending a nice afternoon with my girlfriend, when I arrived my mom welcomed me with a smile and said "I have a story for you" to which I thought "What did she do now", because just like me, she comes up with some witticism from time to time. xD

Entonces empieza contándome que el señor cargaba la caja llena de pollitos y empezó a venderle cierta cantidad por quince dólares (15$) ya que el galpón donde se encontraban lo estaban desalojando y necesitaba salir de los mismos.

Then he starts telling me that the man was carrying the box full of chicks and started to sell him a certain amount for fifteen dollars ($15) because the shed where they were staying was being evicted and he needed to get out of it.

Aunque mi mamá le decía que no podía tener tantos pollos, el señor le seguía insistiendo bajándole la cantidad de pollos, a lo que mi mama le dice: “Yo no tengo muy bien en Bolívares (Moneda de mi país, Venezuela) para estar pagándote a ti en dólares chico” porque además el señor le exigía el pago en dicha divisa.

Although my mother told him that she could not have so many chickens, the gentleman kept insisting on lowering the amount of chickens, to which my mother said: "I do not have enough Bolivars (currency of my country, Venezuela) to be paying you in dollars, boy" because the gentleman also demanded payment in that currency.

Al escuchar el señor la respuesta de mi mamá con cierto desdén que ella suele usar cuando le colman la paciencia, este coge su caja y se va con sus pollos en modo molesto, murmurando sabe Dios qué cosas.

When the gentleman listens to my mom's answer with a certain disdain that she usually uses when her patience is exhausted, he takes his box and leaves with his chickens in annoyed mode, muttering God knows what.

Mi mamá no le prestó atención y siguió pasando el rato, en eso ella se percata que sigue escuchando un piar y no entiende de donde porque el señor ya se había ido. A lo que ella se levanta y se percata que en la cuneta de la acera se encontraba un pollito hecho bolita, lo más seguro es que entre la habladera y el disgusto de no haber vendido no se percató que se le fugo.

My mom didn't pay attention to him and continued to pass the time, when she noticed that she still heard a chirping sound and she didn't understand where the man had already left. So she gets up and notices that in the gutter of the sidewalk there was a chick in a ball, most likely between the chatter and the displeasure of not having sold it, she didn't notice that it had escaped.

Yo con mi cara de asombro y de no-te-lo-creo, mi mamá va a buscar al pollito y, efectivamente, era un pollito que se veía aporreado, deshidratado y con hambre, dudo que en esa caja entre tantos pollos hubiera agua y alimento porque por lo general no tienen al ser transportados para su venta.

I with my astonished and not-you-believe-it face, my mom goes to look for the chick and, indeed, it was a chick that looked beaten, dehydrated and hungry, I doubt that in that box among so many chickens there was water and food because usually they don't have it when they are transported for sale.

Respectivamente fui a buscar un pantalón viejo para hacerle un refugio improvisado para que le diera calor por la noche y par de tapas de mayonesa para hacerle de comedero y bebedero. La verdad es que el pobre animalito se veía que quizás no lo lograría pero con la atención y el cuidado que le di como papá pollo, ya al día siguiente estaba correteando haha.

Respectively I went to look for an old pair of pants to make him an improvised shelter to keep him warm at night and a couple of mayonnaise lids to make him a feeder and drinker. The truth is that the poor animal looked like he might not make it, but with the attention and care I gave him as a chicken daddy, he was already running around the next day haha.

Luego mi mamá como que se emocionó porque termino comprando tres (3) pollitos más un día que fue al mercado, en ese entonces como que había temporada de pollos porque hasta por el centro de la ciudad se podían ver vendedores ambulantes con pollitos de colores.

Then my mom got kind of excited because she ended up buying three (3) more chicks one day when she went to the market, at that time it was chicken season because even in the center of the city you could see street vendors with colorful chicks.

Termino regalando uno a un amigo de la familia que había pasado casualmente de visita porque estaba que se enamoró y que quería uno, que le regalaran uno y mi mama se lo termino dando. Ya los otros dos (2) cuando alcanzaron el tamaño ideal les dimos cuello para unas sopitas.

I ended up giving one as a gift to a family friend who happened to be visiting because he was in love and wanted one, and my mom ended up giving it to him. The other two (2) when they reached the ideal size we gave them a neck for some soups.

Eso sí, el pollito ya no tan pollito sigue con nosotros grande y sano, al final no sé si es que mi mamá le agarro estima o lo está guardando para diciembre pero no lo sabremos si no hasta un próximo post haha.

The not-so-chick is still with us, big and healthy, I don't know if my mom is keeping him for December or not, but we won't know until the next post haha.
