When we forgive

The topic of forgiveness is one that has been taught on many occasions in different religious institutions and in schools, though not all schools and religious groups teach forgiveness as some wrote in their scriptural book “kill them believers” and others. There has been a great amount of atrocities that is being committed in this world today and much more harsh and greater reactions arise towards these atrocities by the affected people. In the Bible when Jesus was on the road side and the Pharisees saw him, they decided to present before him a woman who was caught in adultery to know the type of judgment he would pass on her and it was a trick. They decided to use that woman to try Jesus for the fact that she was truly caught in adultery so to know the type of judgment Jesus will pass on her and according to the law of Moses, anyone caught in adultery should be stoned to death.

Now when they presented this woman before Jesus, they told him that the law of Moses states that anyone caught in adultery should be stoned to death. This was a trap for Jesus who was preaching against many bad things which were being practiced at that time even in Israel. His teachings and interpretation of things were also the religious leaders a hard time especially the pharisees and the sadducees who also find it difficult to live up to the standards they teach and also because people started falling in love with Jesus teachings, Jesus started attracting many more followers because of his ability to heal all kinds of sickness and even raising of the dead. The elders of the religious groups were not happy with Jesus because he just from nowhere started becoming more popular than them and making them appear to be less relevant.

They also fear confronting Jesus in a way that will trigger his followers to stone them so their plan was to find a legal ground to hold Jesus so that it will serve as an evidence to the public and for his execution. They wanted to kill him so they wouldn't have any competitor and for their challenge to be far gone. This plan of presenting the adulterous woman before him was to know if he will say something against the law of Moses which is punishable by a death sentence but Jesus surprised them.
As they pushed the woman forward before Jesus fell to the ground at his feet, they asked him what he had to say concerning the woman. Jesus ignored them and as they pressed on to hear him say something. Jesus said to them, him who is without sin let him pick the first stone and cast at the woman. He then stooped down and started writing on the ground.

I believe that if any of them had casted the first stone at the adulterous woman, the person would be cursed and may die of an infirmity but none of them casted a stone at her instead they started leaving one after another until only Jesus and the woman were left alone. This was a pure indicator that there is not a perfect man on earth but funny enough the one who is without sin, Jesus who has the ability to condemn the woman didn't condemn her. Instead he raised his head and asked her, woman where are your accusers? And she said they have left, Jesus said so none of them condemned you, she said yes. Jesus replied, neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.
Jesus escaped their trap and gave them a piece of their own medicine by the way he handled the situation and also saved the woman without much talking.

With this I feel wisdom matters when it comes to forgiveness. With forgiveness in our lives as part of us in our daily practice. Our families will be at peace, our cities and states won't be in ruins, there will be no gang wars and countries will not be at war with one another. Forgiveness should be a very important very important aspect of our existence and we need to learn it and teach our future generations because it pays with good rewards when people forgive but lack of forgiveness can result to murder, regrets, imprisonment, fighting, use of deadly weapons like guns, sustaining fatal injuries and even worst situations that you can think.
