Porphyrio martinicus

It's amazing how time goes by, almost two months ago I took the following pictures, that afternoon I was in the park resting with nothing planned in my mind, it was just me and the wind under the trees, it was then when I could see the next bird, which to be honest I had no idea of its name until now that I finished editing the pictures.

From what I could research on the Internet, we are in front of a bird called porphyrio martinicus and we can find it in several countries of the American continent, I had already seen this bird but I have always had problems when I try to take pictures of it, it is a bird that likes to avoid human presence and the times I have tried to take a picture of it, it always runs away from the place.

Personally I find this bird a bit boring, I have no idea if it emits any singing sound and I don't know what could be its mating rituals, maybe I need to investigate a little more about it, but what I am sure of is that its colors fascinate me and that's why I decided to take the pictures.

And to finish today's post I want to mention that a couple of days ago I came across this bird, from what I could see in its colors maybe it is a different species or actually the female has another color in its feathers, anyway that day I was taking pictures with a wide angle lens and the bird was under a bridge that passes over a river, In this area there are some crocodiles so it is better not to get too close to the water, as it was already late I decided that I would come back the next day better prepared with the zoom lens, in my mind everything would be perfect and I could get some good pictures of the bird and its little ones, at least that was what I dreamed that night.

I have no idea what happened, I remember that I saw the beak of some of her chicks, and they still looked quite small, but by the next morning when I returned they were no longer there, I thought that one of the crocodiles had attacked her, but there were no signs of violence in the nest, maybe she was so stressed by my presence when I was watching her that she decided to move somewhere else or what do I know, I have no idea what happened, but I really regret not having the zoom lens at hand the day before, but well, I decided long ago to go out with only one lens to take pictures so I don't waste time swapping them, sometimes it's good and sometimes like this time it plays against me, but that's life, I will try to return to the area to look for more nests, wish me luck.
