The design of surprise birthday dress gift for my sister

My sister here is the first daughter of my mother even though she looks like someone with very small physics she is a mother of three. With a lot of activities surrounding my life and career my elder sister here is one person whom I seldom remember her birthday,this has been the case with my other siblings as well. Ever since she got married and left the house to live with her husband it’s been difficult to send gifts to her and as time goes by we began to forget her happy day gradually.

This year I wanted to make a difference and to show her that we love, cherish and appreciate her even if she were married, the bond of love between siblings should not be broken.We must show love one to another between ourselves as a family because family’s come together to make a nation and if we do not celebrate each other how can we put hands together to grow and celebrate ourselves as a nation.

We must learn to be there for one another, celebrate and show love to each other. Very small gesture of gifts 🎁 creates strong bonds even if the gifts are not expensive ones it makes people feel loved and appreciated.

This was a surprise for her as she has taught that her birthday will be forgotten this year as usual but thanks to my phones Calender it reminded me of the date a day prior to the birthday. I have gotten some fabrics at home and had wished that I will sew some elegant outfits for her but upon am reaching the market I realized that I cannot afford the necessary accessories needed for that, with our ever rising inflation it gets difficult to purchase sewing accessories by the day .

I moved on to sew something simple for her since gifts are about the gesture at heart and not how expensive they are. I have cut an A line here guessing what he measurement will be

Next was the two part sleeve
Which I added some elastic here to make it bogus

Then I will also be adding a collar to this but first I wanted to see the fitting of the dress on her before finally adding the collar
For the dress neckline I have used a
2.5" width by 2" debth

And for the back I have used 2.5"width by 1" debth

Next I have stitched the shoulder lines first adding a little net lace I have left in the house to see if it will make a difference on the front bodice

Attached the sleeve to the dress before moving on to stitch the seam lines.

Jokingly I have invited her to my place to come see something before bringing out the dress for her to try it on. She was more than happy and surprised that this year I didn't only remember her birthday but that I have sewed something for her to snap a picture in it and remember when she added a new year.

Due to the fact that I have sewn the dress in her without her measurements it came out a little too large for her, I never knew that she has lost some weight too.
I needed to make some fitting on the dress with a collar She then suggested that we should take pictures with another new dress I had made for her earlier for the family's Christmas outfit.

We sang the birthday song for her and took soome pictures, myself and her alongside the her three kids.

It was a birthday without cakes but it was a happy time and worth it in the end.
