Investing in Commercial farming, Preparatory Farming Goals/Plans for the next farming season.

$ Hello Hive

Winter has finally giving way here and the heat period has taking over.
Basically we have two weather seasons here, the raining season and the dry seasons. The raining season is when most farming activities take place between the months of April till October, occasionally we can have some late rains in November too. Harvest can last up till the months of December depending on the number of crops we have planted.
In between the dry season is when we experienced winter ❄️ with cold and drop in temperature which is equally taking over by heat from the Month of February that we are in now.

The weather has been terrible lately and aside the fact that alot of us contracted the flu cold related illness during the low temperature days, the recent weather conditions is a very dry and dusty ones.
People have resolved to wearing nose mask and I must confess that in the past one week I have been on antibiotics to combat the effect of the dry weather, Ear nose and throat infections are very common but the infection experience now is something different from flu, dry cough, itchy throat and other.
This is a bit about our weather conditions
Climate and weather conditions affect farming and we cannot talk about one forgetting the other, farming is highly dependent on weather conditions.

Having been on subsistent farming for a long time from now, alot of experience have been gained over the years and it is time to step up with the game a little.

I am thinking about a bit of expansion and has been looking into the plans needed to achieve that

  • Land preparation

  • Crops to grow

  • Possibilities of Having poultry (so that poultry droppings can be used as fertilizer for the farming season)

  • Financial plans

  • Availability of labour

  • Harvest and storage plans.

  • Farm security

All of these are the points of the farming goals for the year.
Picking the first one I did find some piece of farmable land for rent at the rate of approximately $14/20k naira for rent per plot or a other plan of an outright payment of $552/800k for an acre is one is intending to purchase the land.

This place is not terribly far from township and should confer some level of security to our crops from thieves and herdsmen.
I'm still on the lookout if other cheaper places that is closer to township can also be found.

There are just a lot of preparation plans and the land preparation partly sorted out, if there are no other better options this will do for now.

It's not too early to make Preparatory plans and documentation for the next farming season or what do you think ?

Exactly, with proper planning I could remove crops with potentials for such insect infestation.
Thank you for the good will.

Heat down 👇 is very serious. How I wish I can have a large portion of land to into commercial planting now things in the market are very costly. Hardship hitting us day and night.
