How I made an Emergency outfit for a friend

avatar

Hello Diy family

I want to share with us the process of how I made a very fast emergency outfit for my friend here.
One thing that I am always glad about is how my sewing skill is increasing becoming useful for my family and friends.
No one around me will lack something good to wear as long as we can manage to get the fabric. Even when you are having a wardrope malfunction or not having a thing to wear for any outings, dates or events we can always work out something. I have tagged this an emergency outfits because the timing i was giving to make this dress was very short, it has come on a quick notice.

My friend here is having an event coming up today. It is the graduation of her younger sister from Islamic school and she practically does not have anything presentable to wear for an outfit likewise her mum. Having giving it a thought, her mum has gone to the market and purchased 6yards of this African print fabric and gave her two yards out of it.

For an average person of her height she will be needing at least 3yards to sew an outfit. She also confided in me that she doesn't have the money to buy the underlings, zippers and other accessories, hence I have to find out a style that wouldn't be needing any of those items.

An A line dress seem to be something I can work around it that won't be needing zippers and the likes.

Hence I had proceeded to cut an A shape front and back block up there

Managing every bit of the fabric to get a sleeve and the facing which I will be using to cut turn in the necklines here

In order not to sew just a plain dress I had cut another 9" straight cut, hem the edges and pleated it round the base of the dress.
Some neat sewing and finishing here and there and now the dress is ready.

I had to sacrifice my sleep in order to meet up with sewing the dress for her. After the days work at farm, you can check out the farming activities. here I had a short sleep and had to wake up and sew this before morning in which I am already in the farm now.

Been on hive also give me a privilege to always check in here and drop a quick post anytime it is meal time in the farm.
With a very tight schedule at this end of the year I am left with how to manage harvesting at farm, sewing at home, blogging on hive among other activities.
