This is my first time posting in the community, I am delighted to drop by the community and see the lovely diy from my fellow hivers. Having gone through the rules i have seen what the community requires of our blogs and won't hesitate to share with you my personal contents too.

Today I am sharing with us the diy process of how I have cut and sew some lovely sleeves to perfect a dress projects I made for my neighbors in this Christmas. It is Christmas season and I had put in some effort to make sure that everyone around me gets something nice to wear.

I am a seamstress and an entrepreneur for those who do not know me here. I have been in training for some year to perfect some of my sewing skills so that I can become a brand owner and start my own fashion business.
The need for more and more practice pushed me to do a free outfit sewing section for my friends and neighbors in the community. While sewing for them for free I have learnt as many things as possible. These two are among the dress I have sewn for free.

Christmas is fast approaching and it is time to finish up every project and have the outfits delivered. We don't have to be short on creativity but sometimes I get stuck on the perfect sleeve design that will go with a particular outfit..

There is no time to think too much this morning hence I just follow my instances and sew whatever comes to mind.

To sew a ball sleeves.

  • First cut a rectangular piece of whatever fabric you want to use,the measurements depends on the armhole circumference of the individual we are working with. I often multiple whatever measurements I get by three. If the armhole is 16" in circumference I multiply this by 3 and use it to cut the fabric.

  • Next I have turned in 1" at the hem of the sleeve where I will be adding an elastic band.

  • Next I pull a gathers of the armhole area around the sleeve and attacked the sleeve to the dress.

  • Then it was time to push in some elastic band and to pull the entire sleeve into a gathers.

I made thesame sleeve for both dresses as the dress belong to a friend and neighbors while I have used the fabric to make the dress for the elder sister, there was not enough fabric left to makes sleeve for the younger lady. But since I have sewn the lower part of this dress with an orange Satin I took the left over pieces of it, joined it in every way and used it to make same ball sleeve for the younger lady. Having done this o will be delivering the cloths this afternoon so that they can get them ready to wear on Christmas day.

Zippers are another thing I find issues with while fixing it but today I learnt a new method of how to fix zippers and have done that here.

What do you think of both dresses.
Which do you prefer the most, the one with a blend of burnt orange of the one I have sewn with plane African print fabric.

You are very talented.
I've been following up some of your sewing post and I must confess, you are among fashionistas that can deliver exactly what someone ordered and not the other way round🤣😃

The two are fine, but I will go with the plane one. It's nice.
You are such an amazing person to have other people in mind this Christmas. I am sure neighbors will be happy to receive such gift.
