Harvesting and Processing our Beans π«π«π«π«
Hello Hive
It is yet another day of farm work and we are moving from one farm to another harvesting our grains.
Yesterday had us in the rice field all day and we got home at twilight while it was almost dark. Yesterdays down was one of the hard and rigorous work we have done this year.
And since it is not yet time to rest we have hit the road today again as early as possible to come pick up our beans.
After losing a good amount of this beans to domestic animals we have finally gotten some time to come for harvest today.
Myself, dad and siblings are all here to do the work. We couldn't get more hands to join us today as everyone is equally busy with their own harvest. And the labourers that helped us with rice harvest yesterday requested to rest today from the severe work.
Harvesting of beans is a very slow process as the crop is sitting on an acre of land. Everyone here has got a bag and we move from one ridges to another plucking beans.
It is often plugged with the pods before we take them home for processing. At home we will first spread them in the sun if they are not properly dried before we then move to pound it with mortar and pestle to open up the beans from the pods.
Another cleaning process is carried out to sift and separate the pods dirt from the beans.
Amazing that this is all done by hand.
Where do you store everything?
We have a storage house for our grains at home. We have corn there too and others yet to be harvested.
