Checking on our rice and Preparation for harvest

Another moment for harvest that we have all been waiting for is around the corner. Out of all the foods we have been harvesting so far, this is the one that gives people the greatest joy. Rice food can be eaten with virtually anything, including salt and oil, in cases where there is no money to make soup.

It is difficult to eat corn meal without at least a proper soup. The only corn people enjoy is the fresh corn, where they get to roast and eat it, but aside from that, as soon as the corn gets dried, we have to make soup that we will be eating with it, just like semovita eating all across the world.

You can see the reason why people prefer rice meal, and rice is one of the easiest and most loved grains all across the world. The adults may love something else, but rice is a special meal among children here; hence, each time we grow and harvest a tangible amount of the grains.

I believe that you can see the reasons why we can hardly wait for rice harvest to come around.

Yesterday we did a check on our grains, and they are beginning to ripen up. Once the grains matured, they hardened up, and the shells began to dry up. Even though we do not have much of the grains this year, we cannot wait to harvest the little here.

The only person that will be harvesting so much rice is a friend here who has supported his own farms with irrigation during the drought period that makes our crops suffer a hard fate.

From the tip of the rice above, you can see how the rice is now getting dried and ripening up. This usually happens in succession, and even though we plant them on the same day, these grains hardly produce at the same time, and we have to wait until a good percentage of them have matured up before we proceed to harvest.

Our groundnut harvest is almost at a conclusion now, and the next line of harvest will be our beans and rice. Harvest season is usually a joyful moment, no matter how little the harvest is. We get to have some food in the house and not be bothered about visiting the market in a good while. I do hope that we do have a pleasant day in all our endeavors this day.
