A Ray of Hope, An Independent day outfit for myself.
It is a normal thing for everyone to love their country no matter what happens there. And since it was our Country's independent day yesterday I will rather overlook all the negative things surrounding us and chose to stay positive.
I love my country regardless ❤
Nigeria is bad
A terrible place to be
That's what you all must have been told and I can say that the opinions people have about this country is heart breaking nevertheless have you looked around to see that there are still some good people here.
If I was a terrible person, you won't find me on a significant and important blockchain as Hive.
I also have a good number of my country people here and it is super delightful to see this people living their best lives and impacting others. We cannot be all bad people and I mean that with my full chest 😍😀.
Therein is our ray of Hope 💖
You must have also heard of the corruption's and Bad governance/leadership in the country, this happens everywhere as well but our might just be on a higher level but like I have heard in the past that every country deserves the leader they get meaning that we have poor and corrupt leaders because are good number of our population are also corrupt.
You may never know your true color or what you are capable of doing until you are placed in a position of power. Maybe severe poverty can make any poor man wish to hurdle all the food and resources in the country. And maybe this is why the leaders are embezzling more for themselves and their children yet to be born.
The way out for my people.
One suggestion and the way out for my people is to grow children with the correct mindset and a heart of service. Definitely this generation will pass away and the leaders will see today won't be there tomorrow.
We should train our children to love and cherish each other rich or poor, they should do away with bullying, stigmatism and tribalism.
A changed mindset will save the future.
Moving on
Yesterday was a special day and with hope alive we were asked to be dressed as patriotic citizens in the country's color.
And like you have seen from above
It was time to do some recycle project. I didn't want to purchase more fabrics for any projects when I have so many scraps that are occupying space in the house.
When you have too many unused clothes or fabrics scraps in the house, it occupies space and makes the room more disorganized.
So instead of purchasing a new fabric to make my independent day outfit, I decided to be creative around what is available in the house.
Checkout all the scraps of green I pulled out
There are different shades of green and the interesting one is a green we now call "Nigerian green" as if Nigerians invented it 😂
I have this white shirt I haven't worn ever since I bought it, what idea can possibly turn this to something in green and white and wearable on a skirt.
This is what I have done.
After ironing it out having been left squeezed in my box for almost two years now 😀😆.
I pleated in some tulle in two rows upon it and a touch of embroidery.
To complement this with a cap I picked this old cap I have sewn in the past an reworked it removing the red embellishments and replacing them with green.
The cap was very dirty and I was hoping to see a dry cleaner who will help me clean this up before yesterday church service.
My dress and cap can go on any skirt of matching color, since I only wanted a touch of green and white ☺☺☺
The church service was marked yesterday 1st October, a new month and independent day for Nigeria with alot of intercessory prayers for the country.
I was lost in worship and didn't take the time to have a shot in my outfit.
The country may be terrible place today but there is a ray of hope that not everyone is bad and that we can nurture the next generation to be better rather than migrating to other country to overpopulate the place since people in this world believe that there is a better life and developed facilities there.
Shout out to every patriotic citizen out there. Keep been good and hope alive for the future ahead.
This is one recycle work I found so much joy sewing and as simple as it look, the shirt became useful abd every other material 😍❤💖
And apology to my needlework family for bothering you with a bit about my country.

Thanks dearie ❤💖
No apologies at all Monica. We always talk about wanting to get to know our needleworkers better and this is who you are, where you’re from and how you feel. Don’t apologize for speaking on this and venting a little 😉. Thank you for sharing your thoughts as this might help others see things differently. No country is perfect and each has its uglies to deal with but as you stated, within those countries are also a lot of good.
I love this upcycled ensemble you put together. Putting that green fabric on the one side of the shirt was very stylish and adding that fabric to the hat was clever which helped tie it all in ~
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad that you understand completely. 💖
Happy Independence to our dear country Nigeria.
No matter what it's still our country, we can't denial that.
The way out is the best advice every Nigerian should hind to, because we have to build a bright and great tomorrow for ourselves regardless.

Alright dear
Nigeria faces difficulties that seem insurmountable. We've seen problems persist and sometimes, our effort to solve them appear ineffective. But, you made mention of something very brilliant, about our focus on the next generation.
Nigeria has never lack anything, but love. I really don't want to type a long comment. However, we must not give up. we must keep working together, even when it's painful and difficult, to address the issue that hang over us. Our unity, determination and perseverance can cut through the toughest of challenges.
I don't think you owe any apology, just like someone said. Talking about it help people to know. I love your upcycling dear monica. It really come out well. Happy independence day. 😊🌹🌹
It's the creativity for me oh, see how creative you went and that's commendable.
Well done.
wow beautiful design, so creative thanks for sharing.
The white blouse is very beautiful. too bad you didn't like it. I really love these types of models. the hat turned out great!
Good afternoon Monica :) I liked that you speak well of your country, that speaks well of you too. In most cases, ordinary citizens are not to blame for the terrible decisions of our rulers, we are only tied to their policies. But that doesn't mean our home stops being home, after all that's where we were born and where our loved ones are.
I liked this outfit and the tradition of dressing in the color of your flag. Yours is very ingenious, a great recycling project. Congratulations ❤️.
Thanks dearie, I appreciate the kind words ❤💖
I was really touched by your words and I can identify with you in many aspects. Regardless of the political and economic situation that our countries may be going through, we will always love and feel proud of the country where we were born.
Happy Independence Day to you and your compatriots. Best regards.🤗💖
Thank you so much dear ❤💖
