A long wish is now finally Granted ... Diy and recycled Arts materials are more durable and saves us alot of money

You will agree with me that a diy projects and the things we purchase for ourselves will be highly durable compared to the ones been sold at the market. Today I got another confirmation to this word after making a purchase from the market. While making certain items for ourselves we look out for the quality of materials and work out our skills at best to make good products for ourselves. For instance you want to sew a dress you have the liberty to buy the best fabric and to sew the best design that you desire and also give it quality stitching to avoid tearing. Such outfits can last for years and in good condition compared to the ready to wear one made by someone else who may just be after his money selling inferior outfits for money

Learning to do certain things for ourselves really pays off and after sharing my experience I believe that you will see the reason why.

Today I wanted to grant the wishes of my baby sis to own a Santa's seasons cap for the festivities. Almost every year she has been pestering me to get her one of these in which one or two reasons have prevented that.
For the earlier years I had no fund to buy her luxuries or any of these items and while I would have wished to sew one for her I have no idea where the fabrics for this kind of Santa's cap is been sold.

This year I have sewed my sister and relatives(nephews and nieces) their Christmas outfit but neither of them have a headwear and I am already out of time to sew any fancy ones. Since the colors of their outfits is cream the red and white of Santa's cap will be a perfect match hence I went to purchase some of these from a store.

  • First the caps were a bit expensive and sold for a dollar each

  • The quality of the cap available is really poor.
I equally found one of a lesser quality compared to the one I bought which was been sold for $0.5.

Having bought their caps, we got home and all the decorations on the cap fell off. While looking into them I also noticed that the seams were very bad and the cap was begining to tear

Maybe the seller have done a massive production in a hurry just to have more sales without looking into the details and quality of what they sell to the public.

I hated that I had to do some stitching repair on a newly bought cap.

In the end I ripped out all the seams to rework this better.

I measured and cut the size to the shape of her head, since it was bigger than her head.

Having stitched this I decided to borrow Anastasia's cap for today's outing. We have an outreach to visit the orphanage to show some love to the special kids there.

So here is Anas wish of owing a Christmas cap granted.
Having bought this she will use it for years since we can pack and keep the cap after the festivities for use another time.

You are right, the ones we make ourselves are always way better with better materials. The cap is really nice, where is my own one 🤭
