Transportation; think twice before leaving your house!
The current economy of Nigeria isn't smiling at all, it's as if all sectors are just retrogressing, nothing is working and the survival rate is now for the fitted. Truth be told, the state where I reside is one of the cities where goods and services likewise rents can be gotten at the cheapest rate because things are relatively cheap here most especially transportation if compared to some major cities in the country.
Almost a year ago, there are still some places that a hundred Naira can transport you to, but as inflation is hitting every nook and cranny of the country, things are now very difficult and everyone is just managing.
Though I live in an area that is linked to some of the major tarred roads in my city and the government of my state is really working on road construction and rehabilitation at different locations but nowadays, the major transportation problem is the Scarcity of fuel.
Fuel is now a scarce commodity, many car owners now leave their cars at home to board public transport and we all know the kind of country we live in, once there is fuel scarcity like this, commercial drivers will use it as a privilege to extort passengers even if they queued at government owned gas station (NNPC) to buy fuel at cheaper rate, they will still lied that they are bought it from black market sellers, just to have huge profit.
People take advantage of every little thing that happens in the country to extort others without thinking of the repercussions, sometimes I ask myself who is worse between ordinary citizens of Nigeria and those people in government that embezzle our money?
As I've earlier said, my area is linked to some major tarred roads in my city and it's surrounded by numerous filling stations including NNPC and a very popular private gas station called BOVAS whom people loved so much. I can even trek to three different fuel stations that are close by on the main road most especially NNPC but most of private stations don't have fuel for now.
So a lot of people have to queue at NNPC and BOVAS for fuel and this led to hold up if the queue is not well managed by any of the station staffs. Transport fare is now on the high side, buses and tricycles are now charging us more than the normal transport fare all because of the scarcity of fuel.
With this recent happening in the country, people now think twice before leaving their various houses except on very important occasions while those that must go to work now trek certain distance so as to reduce their transport fare including me, I also go out on a rare occasion now, I don't have money to waste at all.
The only solution to the whole transportation problem we are currently facing in my area is for the government to intervene in the oil sector and find lasting solution to the collapsed refineries. If the refineries are working perfectly, there will be right supply of petrol to all stations across the country and people will be able to go out as they pleases without having second thought.
Thanks for reading through my blog!
Petrol prices are also hiking up in my country. It's because government is designing budget by keeping in view demands of IMF and not considering the plight of people of the country.
We don't even know the reason why there is hike in pump price in my country. Everything is just so annoying right now
Fuel is a non-renewable source of energy which keeps decreasing. And the way its quantity keeps decreasing, the prices of fuel are also getting expensive, due to which even a person who does not have a vehicle has to face some problem because our daily use items require a lot of transportation to reach us. In such a situation, I would like to say here that the government should work on innovation so that apart from fuel, there are many alternative resources with the help of which transportation runs. Along with this, if the government focuses on green energy and manufactures technologies like electric vehicles, then it will have many benefits. The first benefit of this will be that there will be very less pollution and along with this, the mileage cost of electric vehicles is very low.
Hmmmm that's true, you have very good points here. Thanks for visiting
You see that word "think twice before leaving your house", is what have been practicing ever sine the fuel increament. It's truly not easy with Nigerians and the rate at which people trek to cover up distance is very alarming.
God will surely help us🙏
Amen oooo, it becoming choking nowadays
