Recap Of My New Year's Day

It's like this year 2024 is really moving so fast because January 1st was just like last night and we are already on the ninth day of the month hmmmm the year is really running fast I must say. Well, this new year has been fun for me and I love my new year's day because I had fun in a new dimension.

I celebrated the new year with my family, I traveled down home from the village where I'm working immediately schools vacated in December last year. So it was a family reunion during the festive season for me and we had lots of fun within ourselves and also appreciated God for the privilege given to us in the family to see one another in peace and not in pieces.

On the 31st December we all went to the watch night service by 9pm, it the tradition in my house to go to Church and join other brethren to usher in the new year in the presence of God and wish ourselves and Church members Happy new year. In the cause of the service we danced happily and prayed towards the new year. We got home around 2am on January 1st and everyone bathed and went straight to bed.

I woke up very late because of the watch night service I attended and before I could open my eyes, Mom had woken up and started the cookings, only God knows how He created our mothers cause she was the first person to wake up in my house on the new year's day.....kudos to all mothers they are really trying👍

After Mom woke me up, I did some chores then my younger brother and elder sis pounded the yam for our breakfast while Mom cooked the Egusi soup. Don't mind me, I don't know how to pound yam at all🤣 I can only assist anyone that intend to pound to put the boiled yam in the mortal that's all... Only God will help me and my fragile hands when I'm married, but yam pounder will surely do that work for me.... no time😂

After eating pounded my with Egusi soup, we all started gisting among ourselves till the evening when my elder sister called me and my younger sister to get ready for our new year's treat, though my younger brother was around but he doesn't go out with us. He will say, he doesn't want our wahala🤣🤣

I thought we were going to our usual pepper soup joint but my elder sister treated us in another way, she drove us to Asun joint around GRA in Ilorin Kwara State, myself and younger sis were very happy because this is the very first time we would be eating Asun.

Asun is a peppered Goat meat prepared with different bell pepper, spices and garnished with onions. It's was sold at #3,500 per plate at the joint we visited.

When we got there, the joint was an open air space where you had your table to yourself without anyone bothering you and they played cool music.

The most interesting thing was that, it's only when you ordered for it at the joint that they start to prepare it and the cooking of Asun takes like 30-40mins. And they usually dish it into a small mortal, so we ordered 3 plates.

While eating the Asun, I was munching it happily and I washed it down with a cold Chivita drink. We got to the joint around 6pm and left around 10pm, I even watched the first half of Liverpool vs Newcastle at the joint that day before leaving around 10pm. I'm glad my club later won by 4-2goals.... #YNWA💪.

It was fun filled with my sisters and I'm looking forward to our Easter treats in March this year. I hope my Elder sister will take us out again and pay our bills like in the past, I don't want her to say the bills will be on me so that I won't run away🤣😂😂. I so much enjoy being in the midst of my family members.

This was how I spent my new year's day and I was happy throughout that day even till the next day.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Woooow, I'm salivating. What a nice way to enjoy the first day of the year. Looking at the quantity of the Asun in the picture, it's worth the amount and I wish I was there. Asun is a delicacy prepared by which tribe? I'm much interested in knowing more about it, it's inviting.

Lol, the delicacy is really sweet oo. Asun is majorly common among the Youruba's, but people that runs local joint (both Ibo and Yoruba) mostly prepares it. It's barbecue meat delicacy.
