Adulthood

The adult stage is a period of every human being when parental control is lost and everyone is assigned their individual responsibilities. The adulthood stage is a self-reliant and decisive stage of life in which you are in control of whatever you are doing.

Several different events take place in human life from childhood to adulthood, there are some things I can do now and boost on it than when I was a kid.

You all know African parents, no child dares challenge their order or make decisions for them while been a kid. In as much your parents had decided on what to do with you and everything about you, nothing can change it.

But as we grow older, they allow us to take responsibilities on ourselves, although our mothers still try to intrude on our privacy but this time around their intruding is with caution and respect.

A slang says "adulthood nah scam", I know it all because of bills and unending responsibilities but to me, I love this adult stage of life more than childhood.

Although, the childhood stage is full of enjoyment where you care less about yourself; your needs are being catered for by your parents and elderly ones, no rent fees and the likes but one is always at the mercy of our parents or guardian.

One thing that always annoyed me during childhood is the fact that no privacy at all, you can't claim a space of your own because it's not owned by you. Your parents are free to enter anywhere they please at any time without been sorry. And the most annoying part is that others use your things without asking for permission.

But now as an adult, it's a different story. I'm now experiencing life in a new dimension that's quite different from my childhood days.

I'm not bound to my parents'rules anymore, I'm free to do whatever I like without been compelled to do a thing. Its so refreshing to feed myself anything I like, there is nothing like that food is portioned for tomorrow or reserve for someone else. I now have money to buy or prepare whatever food I intend to eat.

I can also style myself as I please, not that my dressing will be determined by my Mom. I'm also able to decide on what I will use the money I earn for, nothing like, bring it let me help you keep it, I do whatever I please with my hard earned money.

I also love the fact that I'm at liberty to attend any parties of my choice and leave at my own convenient time without thinking that my parents will be mad at me for staying long outside.

All these and more are the hidden gems that adulthood has given me and I can say I'm enjoying my freedom to the fullest, though I'm being careful on how I live so as to be a role model to others. But I love the fact that I can take responsibilities for myself and I'm loving it.
