Advocacy On Air.... E waste and its Menace.

Hello hivers, I greet y'all and I hope everyone here is doing well. As I mentioned in my previous post, The advocacy continues and this time round, we visited a different radio station in Tamale which is known to be one of the best radio stations with a lot of listeners.
As we intend educating the public on e waste, we hope that the message will go and viral and widespread because we have realized that people don't actually pay so much attention to the health hazards of e waste and that is our mandate at Appcyclers to get the people informed so we can collectively reduce e waste and get rid of its menaces.

We educated the people as to how we can take action to reduce e waste and promote sustainable practices.
We made it known to the general public that, we can reduce the consumption of electronic waste by only purchasing what is necessary.
We can also repair and reuse old electronic devices instead of disposing them. Moreover, we can develop the habit of donating old electronic devices that are still functional to charity organizations .
We can also properly dispose of electronic devices that are no longer functional at designated e waste collection sites.
As we are doing, we made the general public understand that they have a role to play in advocacy.

We educated the general public as to the role government and businesses play in addressing the e waste problems and how they can be held accountable.
We made the general public appreciate the fact that government and businesses play critical roles in addressing the e waste problem by developing and enforcing responsible e waste management policies and practices. They can also be held accountable through transparency and reporting on their e waste management activities as well as through legal and regulatory mechanisms.
Ghana has implemented the harzadous and electronic waste control and management Act in 2016 which aim to regulate the importation, disposal and management of e waste in the country. However, the effectiveness of this policy is still under evaluation.

We deliberated on how to ensure that e waste management is accessible and equitable for all communities regardless of socio economic status.
We made the general public understand that to ensure that e waste management is accessible and equitable for all communities, government and organizations can implement policies and programs that provide incentives for responsible e waste management practices such tax breaks or subsidies for recycling they can also establish collection points in low income areas and provide education and training on responsible e waste management practices

The host showed so much competence and brilliance handling the program till it became success.

We made it known to the general public that it's a collective responsibility and listeners can help spread awareness about e waste by sharing the information on social media, participating in local e waste management programs and engaging in discussions with friends and family.
