As some people might have guessed from all my cosplay-related posts, I am a comic book fan. I have collected comics for most of my life and used to be an avid reader of them. Now I appreciate them for many different reasons, both as a fun novelty and an investment. As I get older, I think it will be really important to start protecting them more, so I sent a bunch of my best books out to be graded. Their is a company called CGC which professionally grades comics and assigns them a score betwen 0.5 (very poor) to 10 (mint) Once they grade them, they seal the comics in a hard plastic casing with their certification. This really helps improve the value of a comic, as people then have a clear way of knowing its condition without second-guessing. I also really enjoy the historic element and the way comics tie into pop culture and influence TV and movies It adds a fun novelty to collecting these books and watching interest in them grow as they get reintroduced to new generations of people.
