Jamb Fee
It was on a cool Wednesday evening in my hostel. I had just finished my washing when a junior student came to me and told me that the matron was calling on me.
Just as she finished delivering the message, I dropped the bucket I was holding and headed straight to where the matron was seated to hear what she had to say to me.
When I got to her, she told me that the reason she sent for me was because she was given some amount of money to give me. I got to know that the money was from my father, the one I had asked for two days ago for my JAMB registration and some extra feeding and up-keep money.
We spoke at length with the matron, we spoke on issues pertaining to the hostel and things .
Did I mention I was the house captain? My bad, forgive my manners.
After the talk, I took the money to the hostel with the intention of submitting it the next day to our form master (class teacher) just as we were instructed by the school management.
Night came, we all went for dinner (all the students), after our dinner we went for our prep.
After our night prep around 10PM, we headed back to the hostel. I got to my corner only to discover my locker had been broken.
Fear gripped me, I could not hold back my tears, I cried till I slept off on my bed.
Due to the stress and pain, I woke up with a severe headache which made me visit the school clinic.
The matter got to the boarding house authorities, investigations were carried out, a lot of interrogation sessions but all to no avail.
The culprit went scout free, but made the rest of the students and herself pay dearly too. They all contributed some of "one thousand" naira each, with the total summing up to two hundred and fifty thousand naira, and the students of the hostel including me, we washed all the school toilets, swept all the classrooms for three weeks.
The matter died off, and it was after our graduation we got to know who the main culprit was, the culprit was a junior student, but there was nothing we could do about it and we all let it slide away.
Ómo, this is a classic case in secondary schools, even in the university especially if you're in the hostel. I had my own fair share of this kind of experience but it didn't happen to me directly.
One fine evening, me and my gee @nelson-george were tired after an exhausting class..we got to the hostel and decided to rest..we shared the same bed. He slept facing one side and I slept facing the other side. Then his fone was charged by the wall, where our bed was (it was directly in front of the socket) and we placed it strategically on the bed, then we slept..
Few hours later we woke up to discover that his phone was gone..ómo, we were shocked...we asked everyone in the room but nobody was able to tell us how the phone developed two legs and left the room...ómo...remembering such an experience is hilarious..it wasn't that funny then ..but it is now 😂😂..
Great story my dear ❤️
